It'll probably be explained in the next episode, but what was the point of that last scene? She poisons them just so she can say hello to Dexter?

Does she not have email?

the preview for next week's episode looks crazy, but then again they always cut it so it looks crazy or it looks like dexter gets caught

Man, this season has been pretty shit for me not going to lie.

All the acting seems pretty tired and uninspiring, and I don't enjoy any of the new characters or new plot points all that much.

That being said, that was a nice little way to end the latest episode.

Strange episode. I thought there was way too much comical/awkwardness effect going on with the 4 of them in that hotel room, and then again when they were having dinner, so I was pretty happy that it ended with the kid getting part of his brain removed, and that the original mystery still hasn't been solved.
On a side note, I think the only reason there's that subplot going on with Masuka's daughter and her starting to work at the lab is that she'll somehow be Dexter's downfall by catching an error from him, or something like that.

 dude WTF is going on???

the weirdest part had to be the dinner scene
it's funny because i actually hated the Zack kid until he started to learn towards the end and we found out he didn't kill Cassie. Then 5 minutes later his head's been cut open. Pretty sure Vogel's some weird fucked up killer. and pretty sure Quinn killed Cassie to frame Zack

That episode was awesome. It has go be Vogel. My theory- After the fake brain surgeon was killed she could take time off. Zach screwed up and killed Cassie, so Vogel got rid of him because he was a liability.

^Your theory is quite plausible. Although my prediction of Deb's boss being the brain surgeon still stands. I just knew it was not the guy they first got. Awesome episode indeed.

The "are we there yet" line was cheesy as hell. Obviously that car scene and the dinner scene were meant to show Dexter with his new family. His spiritual mother (Vogel) and son (Zach), and obviously Hannah. As usual things were starting to look better for Dexter and then that last scene messed everything up for him.

I'm picking Oliver (dead neighbour's boyfriend) as the Brain Surgeon. He told Quinn he didn't know Zach, despite having seen him outside Dexter's apartment in the previous episode. Plus he's getting way more screen time than any regular background character should be getting.

I'm assuming Quinn will die in the next episode. Not from any killer or anything, but just if Batista finds out that he kissed Deb (in the preview) he will murder him.

Good observation there. I thought he did not admit it because he just forgot and there will be a follow-through at the end of the episode. But yeah, that's weird.

The Quinn prediction may just be too much for Batista.

This season just officially got very interesting.

You guys realize Sean Patrick Flanery of Boondock Saints fame is too big of a celeb to be just playing Deb's boss, right?

Cassie's boyfriend being the killer would be the most shocking event, but I don't think that makes any valid sense. If he is the famous brain killer, then why would he hook up with Dexter's neighbor? It's most likely Vogel. Deb's boss is just obsessed with her, that's all. I don't think he is the killer.

Maybe not too late for the last season of Dexter to be "good", I wouldn't call it the "best", because until now, it was dull. So, what kind of THE END are we looking at here? Dexter lives or dies? :P

So that he could keep an eye on Dexter? The Brain Surgeon tried to frame Zach, and then left his body in Dexter's house. Clearly he is following Dexter somehow. Plus that Oliver guy has a creepy look about him.

I don't get why people think Vogel is the killer. What would be the point? Why go through all that Zach stuff if she was just going to kill him? Her whole thing is helping killers, not getting rid of them. She actually tried to stop Dexter from killing Zach, twice. I'm not saying you guys are wrong, just that I'd be disappointed if the writers went that way with it.

But remember, we never actually saw Oliver previously on Cassie's apartment. He & Dexter first met at the beach. And he came on the "scene" pretty late. If he was the brain killer, shouldn't he have already asked out Cassie way before? Nah man, creepy look ain't gonna cut it :P

Vogel is the best case because she is always lying. We actually don't know what goes through her mind. She only tells the truth when she has no other option. But ya, it's pointless from our side. But then again, it doesn't make any sense for Deb's boss or Oliver as well.

Oliver makes more sense now that I look closer. The brain surgeon had been going after Vogels patients. Dexter is one of her patients, the kid became one of her patients, and I think Oliver has been trying to get to Dexter. Oliver did a frame job on the kids with Cassie.

Anyone else surprised that the actor who played Zach is British? Just listened to an interview and it was weird hearing his accent. :?

Damn, it's the boyfriend. But since when is Vogel is so emotional? She knows what her "son" has done but she is okay with all that and is now is breakfast with him?

Also, the way Dexter was spotting Oliver in the cafe wearing a bright colored shirt from the outside and just standing right over was hilarious. Even if no one wanted to see him, they see that Dexter was there.

I was wrong, too. Gotta hand it to Phil89. :)

Only three episodes for Dexter. I hope it picks up from here. The last episode was a little anticlimactic given the nice ending to episode 8.

I'm hoping Dexter says this line to Oliver the next time they meet:

She already lost one son and thought that the second one was dead as well. I'm sure she still thinks she can help him. But that scene made the whole sending brain parts thing seem a bit pointless. Why didn't he just show up at her house with some crumpets and tea?

I laughed at that diner scene too. Dexter seems to have gotten worse at stalking people lately.

Please don't tell me I'm the only one who cringed incredibly hard at the scene where Dexter takes a picture of a kid and somehow cross references it to Oliver within 3 seconds and a few button presses. That is some CSI level ridiculousness right there. The journal part also slayed me as well. "HE MUST HAVE PLACED SPYWARE IN YOUR LAPTOP SO YOU MUST WRITE IN YOUR JOURNAL YOU ARE ALL OF A SUDDEN GOING TO A CAFE WHICH YOU HAVEN'T GONE TO IN 12389290 YEARS."

God, kill me now.
