Legends has definitely become a catch-all term for former NBA player.

From now until New Year's Day, all Live Tournament rewards will contain a guaranteed 80+ OVR Program Player (Squad of the Week, Legend, or Throwback player). This would be a good time to get back into Ultimate Team.

I'll give it a shot. I gave it a look the other day, and just couldn't get into the mode like I did last year. It feels like it went in a bad direction in NBA Live 19.

Given how rare cards above 84 are I think this is a pretty decent team having not touched the mode for a few months.

I fired the game up for the first time in months and I got to open 14 gift packs which was nice.

Seems like they upped the difficulty level as I tried the November challenge and got destroyed on the first try before settling in and winning the next 2.

I like the influx of new jerseys, as I wound up spending some coins on the Prince purple rain jersey and a Lakers home jersey.

They've slowly added new content, but it's definitely still not good as last year. An area to focus on for NBA Live 20.

Same sentiment here. LUT last year was much better. It's so frustrating to see bench players having higher ratings compared to the legends in LUT.

I do like the added opportunities to get legends or players in general, but I often worry if i'm getting the "best" version. I'd hate to spend money on a player (legend or not) only to find a higher rated version later. And also with just so many damn cards out there, it seems more difficult to find a particular player you are looking for. I have yet to see a Josh Hart card in the mode.

Haven't posted my updated lineup here in a while.

In order to find players rated 84 or higher, you actually have to specify the rating when searching due to how many cards rated in the 70's exist.

Personally, I focus on the attributes rather than the overall.

Oh man, that's the exact year for Marion I've been looking for. How much did that cost?

Good tip. (Y)

That's definitely a wise approach since the individual ratings are the ones that actually have an impact, though the lower overalls are still a bad look for the mode I feel.

Surprisingly, I got him for 24k. Marion usually goes for 45-55k for his 84-85 OVR cards.

Completely agree on the overkill amount lower overall players. Not only are there a ton of them on the market, but those attributes don't even correctly reflect on the player's specific performance on the specific year labeled on the card. It seems like they randomly increased or decreased each attribute by a random amount to push out a "new" card.

I have seen a 90 Curry and 90 Iverson on the market. Not affordable by any means, but cool to see anyways.

I got back into the game a little bit and the gift packs definitely helped solidify my squad. I'm in the process of selling all the ones I'm not going to use and slowly buying the cards I've been wanting but couldn't afford

Have you guys finished the Christmas challenges? Looks like each one gets you the required card for the next one. But the last one requires season 1 Shaq. You probably don't get that in the previous challenge so what do you get for finishing the one before it? (The one that requires Xmas Westbrook)

I was thinking about finishing the all hallows eve one to see if I can get some premium cards.

I'm hoping to get back into the mode using the Christmas challenges. As you said, the gift packs have helped stir some interest in that regard.

The Westbrook challenge used to give you a Program Reward pack, but the final reward was changed to an 83 OVR Christmas player. As for the Shaq-Mas challenge, it's a guaranteed 90 OVR Christmas player.

Yup, I wound up buying the Westbrook Xmas card for like 8k and then running through the challenge. Got a gift pack with a legend Baron Davis and then the final challenge (which I came back from down 11 to the Knicks) I got an Xmas Redick

Here's my team, consisting of mostly my favorite players with some useful players I picked up in gift packs. I was running Yao at center but his rebounding rating is low so I wanted someone with a solid DEF and REB rating, so I got Hayes for fairly cheap. Marion gets auto subbed in a lot for a deadly lineup replacing Rodman and Rashard sliding to PF. Lewis, by the way, is such a monster especially when he gets hot from 3. World B Free, who I got in a gift pack, is such a great player to have. Whenever I need a bucket, I can just throw the ball to him.

The Xmas challenge was useful, as I got the Baron Davis legend card. I wound up doing the Halloween challenges which were a bit of a disappointment. The All Hallows Eve one wasn't too bad, as I got an 82 horry but that was something I already had and sold so I didn't want it.

That's a better than decent lineup as well! Again, might be time for me to get stuck into LUT again. The gift packs over Christmas should help me get started on some of those Challenges. It's just a shame many of them are so long. There's depth to that, I suppose, but it's a lot of grinding for little rewards. At least there aren't any contracts anymore.

The only cards I got for free in packs were Free, Yao, Smith, Baron, and Simmons. All the others I bought individually. I don't waste time on challenges that don't give me free cards. I've been looking in the market for good deals, but mostly sold off all the cards I got in the gift packs that they gave. I got a 83 Durant in a gift pack which I sold for 25k when I realized that the JR Smith card was actually better

I did wind up playing h2h against someone during the 2x event and got 6000 coins when they quit in the 2nd quarter.

Have you bought any packs, with real money or in-game coins?

I've purchased some packs with coins, and the odds are awful. There's only around a 4% chance of pulling a card rated an 82 or higher, but even then, it's not guaranteed to be a good card. And as I noted on Twitter, the Auction House is abysmal on the PS4 version, since people want 500k+ for an 86 or higher, so the best bet would be going after the free cards in the Live Tournament challenges.

New lineup btw. Taking a break from LUT for a bit.

I have not. All of the players that I have are from the gift packs or reward packs from challenges. Doing the Live Tournament challenges probably yielded the best "free" cards initially. All good cards I didn't want to use were sold for coins and I purchased players individually. It takes patience and checking the market often, looking for good deals. I snagged an 82 Hakeem for like 2100 coins. I wasn't even looking for it I stumbled on it just looking for random cards

I noticed Bulls Rodman going for a decent rate but I didn't recall seeing any Bulls versions of him before so I pulled the trigger on him knowing it might be a while before I see another one.
