Postby Andrew on Fri Sep 07, 2018 11:26 pm

Here is the official information, feedback, and discussion topic for the official NBA Live 19 patches. The latest patch for NBA Live 19 is Patch 1.25.

NBA Live 19 Patch 1.25

Release Dates

PlayStation 4: June 3rd, 2019
Xbox One: June 3rd, 2019

Patch Notes

Pro-Am Updates

Venue + Uniform updates: Quai 54

Bug Fix

Memory corruption fix for players with 5 CAPs.

Gameplay Tuning

Based off community feedback:

  • Upped defensive impact to shots
    • Good defensive positioning will be rewarded by affecting jump shots more.
  • Introducing a ball hog penalty
    • If a user “hogs” the ball for an excessive period, shots will be penalized. A major shot penalty will kick in if the user continues to ball hog.
    • This is only for user player jump shots in Live Run.
  • Bigger players will play contact shots against smaller players less often.
    • This will result in more clean looks and makes for bigger players (when going up against smaller players)
  • More impact for lower-rated players on contact layups.
    • This results in lower-rated players missing more layups with contact
  • Increased chances to make cleaner layups and shots around the rim
    • Fewer clean layups missed from light contests
  • Improved ball handling vs. collisions
    • Higher-rated ball handlers will only pick up the ball from too many collisions or being super low on short-term stamina.
Further notes on roster updates can be found here.

  • Earned Edition Jerseys added to 5v5 Game Modes
Gameplay:

  • Tuned ball carrier fatigue to drain slower when a player is out of short term stamina and faster when short term stamina is full. This will help balance the rate that fatigue is applied and not over-penalizing a player who is already drained.
  • Tuned variables that impact shot percentages for shots around the rim. Inside Shots and Layups will now better-factor openness vs. being contested. More open shots by players capable of finishing will go in and shots that should have been impacted by defense will result in misses.

I like that they addressed the patching.

Also, I'm happy they didn't mess with the gameplay too much, and the fact that they focused on defense.

No issues on my end with this patch.

Glad to see there's transparency this year instead of leaving it a mystery. This is almost a must now that there are more people playing the game and are demanding changes and updates

I saw on Twitter that Live 18 sold around 400,000 copies. Not sure where they got that information... but I'd really like to know.

I'm interested to see the increase. Because I would think that with a good increase, we have a better chance at getting a PC version and/or more content.

Edit: I found the same info on reddit.

Played some Live Run last night to try to level up to unlock store gear. My god the 5 on 5 is unbearable. My first two attempts my team got blown out and everyone quit in the first quarter. Finally we got a win in a game where we jumped out to a huge lead and had some guys quit on the other team and the remaining guys kept the lead at 10 until they slowly chipped it down to 5 or so at the end. Also, I haven't really touched LUT, I guess I will wait until they fix the issues there. Kind of annoying that the 2 modes I liked the best last year kinda suck now

I played a regular game to see the new audio changes they hyped and I got a cool but about the Staples Center and LA which I think was new. Also, they talked about Lonzo and then mentioned how Terry Rozier came on the scene in the playoffs last season. Not sure why they turned down/off Al Murdoch's arena speech

I also noticed it was more difficult for the user but not the computer at hitting layups which unfortunately reminded me of the patch that did that last year

That about confirms it...the newest patch basically destroyed the post and inside game just like 18's patch. Thank the people providing gameplay feedback based off the street modes instead of the actual NBA aspect.

I haven't played with the latest patch yet, but that's definitely concerning. It doesn't pay to focus on one mode, especially the one that isn't centred on being an NBA sim.

So I just tried a game on Superstar, and the inside game has been nerfed to the extreme. When using the Sixers, Embiid missed three consecutive layups in a row (one of them was very lightly contested), as well as missing back to back post hooks. Not to mention the frequent blocks and steals the AI can perform on Superstar, it basically becomes Live 18 with less robotic animations, but retaining the same rubber band and unnaturally psychic AI.

I played all star Lakers vs Celtics and freaking LeBron missed an uncontested layups and also a few contested ones that should have gone in

Also this year on all star difficulty the CPU intercepts a ridiculous amount of passes, even safe passes which was something reserved for superstar difficulty last year

When the AI doesn't become psychic, and performs superhuman comebacks while your team is crippled, Superstar is a pretty fun difficulty imo. It was the main difficulty I played when the demo came out, and even a bit into the full game, as I enjoyed the competitiveness, yet it wasn't too unfair against a human opponent. I hated it in 18, because it practically encouraged you to perform exploits such as the hand-off cheese, pick and pop with three point shooters, placing taller players at the guard position, etc. Basically, it was fake difficulty.

It's even worse in LUT since many of the legends can't even dunk, therefore crippling them even further. I don't want this game to have the 2K syndrome where it produces a few good updates, but later introduce elements that make the game worse. The inside shot/layup penalty need to be reverted back to how it was beforehand.

I have a game play rendering and Curry did change a shot by LeBron, but I feel overall the changes should be necessary. I think more fouls should be called, I'm going to bump them up for a next game.

I do, just like I play NBA 2K on HOF. I post videos from time to time on all star, but those are only exhibition games. When I want to be challenged. Be competitive, and feel great about winning or competition in general, I always play on the hardest level.

smh. Now Live fans are adapting the "not my problem, therefore not a problem" approach.

I feel like that's common among people generally, it's a common trait.

Shaq just missed layups and post hooks over guys like Muggsy Bouges, Spud Webb, and Kyle Lowry in a few LUT games just now. Do people really think crap like this is going to benefit the game?

If they would expand their slider set like NHL does and have categories, the game would be so much easier to tweak for us and them. You can stop this stuff from happening in NHL with sliders adjustments, because they have a hitting and collisions slider category.

It needs to not have those issues by default. The game shouldn't load up that way, a good majority of the gaming population doesn't even mess with sliders. They want to pick up and play.

The LUT team stuff in general is really dissapointing.

More sliders = More access to tune stuff for the devs and users

I don't disagree with that. They need to be better though out of the gate, and by default. Thats all I am saying.

It's also crucial in modes where we can't adjust sliders. Hopefully they can dial it back a bit.

Just played a game of court battles, and it's clear that the nerfed inside game delivers fake difficulty. Irving missed at least five slightly contested layups (only one went for the entire game), but CPU Wiggins makes 3 heavily contested layups in a row.

This capture from the NBA Live Reddit is all the proof I need to show how toxic and in denial the community is when making patches.
Image

What timing? This isn't 2K's layup system that shares the shot meter. How about ignoring the fact that the AI is unaffected by the nerf, and instead insulting how someone plays the game?

I fear that the game will become awful by the end of the year...
