Talk about NBA Live 19 here.

Official NLSC Wishlist for NBA Live 20 (SUBMITTED)

Postby Andrew on Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:24 am

NOTE: Our NBA Live 20 Wishlist has now been finalised and sent along to the development team; thanks to everyone who helped out with it! Nothing more will be added to our official list, but we'll leave the topic open for further discussion and pass along anything extra if we can. Once the preview season for NBA Live 20 gets underway, this topic will be closed. You can check out our NBA Live 20 Wishlist below!

Alright everyone, it's definitely time that we start compiling our Wishlist for NBA Live 20, so here is our official NBA Live 20 Wishlist thread. This is the place to post constructive feedback that will be submitted to the NBA Live Development Team; that means anything from bugs that need fixing, to features that you want to see added or improved upon, to anything else you feel would make the next iteration of NBA Live better.

A couple of notes and important suggestions on how to give the most comprehensive and useful feedback (based on previous conversations with developers):

Important Notes & Suggestions

Please keep this stuff in mind as you're posting your ideas!

  • One suggested format is to post your top 15-20 wishes/suggestions for the game, ie. the 15-20 most important things that NBA Live 20 needs to do/add/improve upon. If you have a couple of extra points, that's fine, but try to prioritise. If you don't have that many suggestions, that's fine too; just post the feedback you have and want to share with the developers.

  • Alternatively, post your top ten or so suggestions you have for different aspects of the game, such as gameplay, game modes, presentation, features, and so on. Again, if you have less than ten, no problem. That's a strongly suggested maximum for the lists, not a minimum.

  • Make sure that you elaborate and post further details where necessary. There's no need to write an essay - there's nothing wrong with being brief, direct, and to the point - but saying things like "better gameplay" doesn't give enough feedback. Explain how you want gameplay to get better, what changes are required to see an improvement. Mention specific issues, along with relevant improvements and fixes you want to see. A few sentences or subpoints are fine, and will add clarification.

  • Be constructive! No insults, flaming or bashing in this thread. If you're not interested in providing actual feedback and discussing ways to improve the game, please move along. If you want to vent about NBA Live 19, please feel free to make use of other threads in the Forum, but this is a thread for constructive feedback only. You don't need to sugarcoat things, or hold back on talking about stuff that needs to be fixed, just don't be abusive or needlessly snarky. Explaining what you think is broken or unsatisfactory, and what you want to see changed, is useful feedback. Telling the developers they're stupid, suck, and you hate them, on the other hand, is not.

  • Lists of bugs that haven't been resolved in the NBA Live 19 title updates are also most welcome.

That's about it. Feel free to start posting your ideas and if you have any further questions, just ask. We'll be passing along all feedback, and will likely look at compiling a "Top Wishes" section as the Wishlist takes shape.

NLSC NBA Live 20 Wishlist

This is the official NLSC NBA Live 20 Wishlist. It represents a comprehensive overview of what our community most wants to see added and fixed in NBA Live 20 and beyond. Thanks to everyone who helped to compile this year's Wishlist!

Key Points/Overview

  • In general, place more emphasis on NBA content, modes, and gameplay. The Streets and LIVE Run are great hooks, but basketball gamers who want a full experience are feeling turned off by the lack of depth to the NBA in NBA Live.
  • Continue to improve animation quality and quantity so that the action is more lifelike, and control responsiveness so that players don't feel so heavy with exaggerated momentum.
  • Enhance authenticity and realism in roster management, strategy, player performance, more in-game injuries, signature animations, and overall atmosphere.
  • Add more content, options, and details to create deeper experiences in Franchise, Ultimate Team, and The One (particularly The League side of things).
  • Add more customisation options (deeper Create-a-Player), and the ability to share custom content with other users (Rosters, Sliders, etc).
  • Bring back features and modes that have fallen by the wayside, for a deeper product and better functionality (Standalone Playoffs mode, various pause menu stats screens, etc).
  • Add Season/Career Modes for the WNBA.
  • Add more bonus content that's easily accessible to all gamers (i.e. historical players outside of Ultimate Team, Special Teams, FIBA and Euroleague teams, Season mode for WNBA teams).
  • Address legacy issues with gameplay and game modes alike, for a deep, well-rounded experience.
  • Release a PC version (through Origin if need be!).

Gameplay

  • Continue to improve the quality of animations so that they are less stiff and more lifelike. This includes phasing out the old unrealistic animations, adding ones with more fluidity, smooth transitions between animations, and appropriate speed (some animations still play out too quickly, adding to the awkward aesthetic).
  • Increase the amount of animations including post moves, basic dunks and layups (i.e. especially moves under the basket), highlight reel dunks and layups, momentum shots, etc.
  • Fix player momentum so that it is less exaggerated, and players don't feel as heavy. This leads to out of control moments, awkward animations, and a feeling of stiffness to the controls.
  • Improve catching animations so that players can be stationery when catching passes more often. Right now, passing to players who are standing still makes them dribble or move out of position way too often.
  • Similarly, tone down the number of wild passes, particularly where players are leaving their feet.
  • Enhance the realism of the game by representing real NBA strategy, including the plays each team runs. Have players attempt more three-pointers rather than everyone trying to drive on every play, and increase physicality/fouls inside for more free throws. Strategy and stats should be as realistic as possible.
  • Ensure that players play like their real life counterparts, at both ends of the floor. Statistically, strategically, and in terms of their strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies, it'd be great to see as much accuracy as possible.
  • Improve passing animations, especially the speed of the animations. Bounce passes in particular are still too fast.
  • Improve directional passing so that passes are thrown to their intended target more often.
  • Improve switching and defensive rotations so that you don't have to constantly switch when controlling the entire team, or be at a disadvantage if you're locked to a perimeter player.
  • Improve late game AI, so that the CPU will foul to stop the clock. Also clean up AI lapses where the AI will just dribble out the shot or game clock instead of attempting a shot, instead of trying to make a push to win the game.
  • Reduce the frequency of ankle-breakers, especially in NBA gameplay. Only the league's top dribblers should break ankles with regularity.
  • Balance field goal percentages (from all areas on the court) in NBA gameplay. It shouldn't be too easy to score inside, but it must be balanced between the user and CPU.
  • Make blocks more situational and less animation based to allow for more chasedowns, blocks that aren't huge swats, and less canned moments overall.
  • Increase explosiveness of dribbling moves and first steps, especially for top tier ballhandlers. Most NBA players who drive a lot can still do so without breaking ankles first, they're just under more defensive pressure.
  • Improve playcalling including customisation of the Play Wheel, reactions by AI teammates and opponents alike, automatic playcalling options, an initial point and the ability to reset the play, more accessible inbounds and ATO plays, etc.
  • Enhance the AI on both sides of the ball, such as fast break logic, defending corner threes, double teams, etc. There should obviously be lapses and plays that break down, but they're currently a bit too frequent.
  • Increase the number of three-pointers and free throws to match current NBA averages. There should be more fouls in the paint with less And 1s, especially from fouls that prevent the offensive player from putting up a decent shot as the contact comes.
  • Add a slider for injury frequency and severity.
  • Add more signature animations throughout the league, from jumpshots and free throws to dribbling and dunking packages. Continue to polish existing signature animations as well.
  • Reduce the amount of canned fouls on steal attempts, but keep steals balanced so online users can't just spam the steal button.
  • Slow the free throw meter down a little, especially for good free throw shooters. On the CPU side of things, poor free throw shooters should miss a bit more often.
  • Tone down interceptions by the CPU, as they have a tendency to pick off passes too easily and with superhuman awareness.
  • Move behind-the-back dribbles to Down on the right stick so they can be pulled off quickly. The animations also need to be quicker and less awkward, at least for elite ballhandlers.
  • Change the Defensive Assist trigger to more of a Defensive Stance trigger (i.e. less automatic movement/positioning). Have it be used to stay in a defensive stance and somewhat locked on your player (just not as much as it is now), at the risk of guarding them too tightly and allowing the drive.
  • Allow players to move around while holding up on the right stick for "hands up" defensive stance.
  • Remove automatic rebounding, or make it an option as "rebounding assistance".
  • When inbounding after a basket, have the ballhandler closer to the baseline. As it is, they're often nearly at half court when receiving the inbound.
  • Have the primary ballhandler hang back a bit after a defensive rebound, so that not every outlet pass has to be a long one.
  • Simplify the controls for intentional fouls and timeouts. It should be an easy to trigger, single button press, in order to execute as quickly as possible.
  • Refine the trigger zone for dunks and layups to cut down on inside cheese, and ensure that there's more of a midrange game/pulling up from midrange is more viable.
  • Add more body types for players, and along with a player's weight and strength, have them factor into how physically imposing they are on the court.
  • Add quick substitutions, as in FIFA.
  • Penalise users for spamming the steal button and overuse of sprint, especially in online play.

Franchise

  • In general, bring back the depth and functionality from previous incarnations of Dynasty/Franchise mode.
  • Go back to the day-by-day calendar. A week-by-week calendar doesn't work for the NBA, where teams are playing each day. Events and results must automatically synchronise on a daily basis.
  • Allow users to control more than one team, and to change the teams they're controlling during the season. At the very least, allow switching control of teams between seasons.
  • Improve simulation logic and stats generation for more realistic results, league leaders, etc.
  • Recognise retired numbers by not allowing them to be assigned to players (unless manually overridden by the user).
  • The league needs to be dynamic and changing, and not just by the user's hand. Have CPU teams trade with each other more often, sign free agents, and offer more trades to the user.
  • Add options to control the frequency of trades, frequency and severity of injuries, etc. Basically, start incorporating the customisation options of NBA 2K's MyLEAGUE.
  • Increase the number of simulated injuries by default (but again, make it customisable via a slider).
  • Add the ability to hire and fire head coaches, as well as other members have staff. Set varying ratings/abilities for staff, rather than having them upgraded with XP.
  • Add the ability to freely scrimmage and run drills with your team, so that you can practice with them and increase their chances of improving. There should also be more than one training session a month, with free scrimmages anytime (essentially, make practice available for the user-controlled team in Franchise).
  • Add the ability to scout rookies during the season, as in older games.
  • Add the ability to edit the generated rookies, so that you can add real prospects if you want to spend the time doing so.
  • Add Gameplay options to the options menu, so that we can easily enable features such as in-game injuries, etc.
  • Bring back the Trade Block function, so that we can make players available and invite offers from other teams.
  • Have players notify you of plans to retire. Allow them to become staff members when they retire, including head coaches.
  • Incorporate aspects of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, including two-way players, 10-day contracts, contract extensions, and so on.
  • Add more stats screens, including advanced stats, Per 36 numbers, etc.
  • Bring back the standalone/traditional League Leaders screen. The current Player Stats screen is a bit cumbersome, and defaults to the team you're controlling, making it look like there isn't actually a League Leaders display.
  • Prevent players from changing jersey numbers unnecessarily, often to uncommon ones.
  • Add historical records screens (individual game records, all-time leaders, etc) that update as we play through seasons and break NBA records.
  • Add the G-League, or at least allow us to assign players to a G-League affiliate to aid in their development.
  • Implement team identities, hot and cold streaks for players, and other "narrative" elements that carry over from game to game on top of any injuries. For user-controlled teams, it will be on the user to break players out of slumps (and also on them to avoid players from slumping).
  • Add team re-branding and relocation options.

Ultimate Team

  • Add a mode of play similar to MyTEAM's domination, in which you need to beat every NBA team one by one, unlocking team-specific rewards along the way.
  • Have better cards available at the start of the mode. The low-rated 60 Overall cards in NBA Live 19 at launch were a turn-off.
  • Improve player ratings, especially for Legends players. Many of the throwback cards have glaring errors such as players like Hakeem Olajuwon and Yao Ming having no midrange game, players being too fast or too slow, and so on.
  • Ensure that players who can dunk have the correct Dunk Packages. A lot of players have been unable to dunk in recent versions of LUT, and corrections haven't always been made.
  • Add other challenge modes, and additional ways of earning rewards (not just coins!).
  • Add more retro content to the collection: throwback jerseys, old school logos, retro courts, etc.
  • License some more Legends so that there are more to collect across the league. If they're in LIVE Events, they should be in Ultimate Team!
  • Allow the collection of all the cards that are made available in the mode, not just an arbitrary limit. Make it a goal to complete collections.
  • Implement a menu like MyTEAM's Collection, in which you can not only view your collection, but immediately search the Auction House for cards that you're missing.
  • Change up the GM List tasks and add more substantial rewards for completing each list.
  • Increase coin earnings, or slightly decrease prices of packs. As it stands, it's becoming a little much like 2K, forcing users towards microtransactions. All goodwill helps at this point.
  • Have more speciality packs, like the Legends Packs with guaranteed throwback players that were in NBA Live 18.
  • Add the ability to set minutes and rotations for your current lineup.
  • Add the ability to create different lineups that you can switch between (ideally at least five), as in MyTEAM. It's handy for being able to make quick changes when you want to run with different themes (current, retro, etc).
  • Increase fatigue in shorter/easier challenge games, so that you have a reason to substitute and use more than just your starting lineup. Otherwise, you end up wasting a lot of contracts.
  • Add a Play with Friends option for Head to Head games.
  • Implement a giveaway system similar to Locker Codes in NBA 2K.
  • Add daily content so that gamers have an incentive to fire up the game and check out Ultimate Team every day (or at least multiple times per week).
  • Add the ability to unlock your The One Player for use in Ultimate Team.
  • Add court editing and custom branding. If there are concerns with the system being abused, make it unlockable after hitting a certain goal or milestone.
  • Limit throwback cards to significant years for significant players.

The One

  • Improve camera tracking so that it remains focused on your player, and you don't end up going off-screen in the baseline angles. Automatic zoom-outs would be helpful.
  • Allow users to select the jersey you want to wear when shooting around on your One Court.
  • Maintain the current approach to fair progression to avoid the mode becoming a painful grind. Avoid pay-to-win mechanics, and retain separate "currencies" for upgrades and items.
  • Allow basic accessories - at least for The League - to be directly purchased using Reward Points. It's a chore having to buy a bunch of crates just to get the exact band or sleeve you want.
  • Similarly, allow more animations to be directly purchased using RP, but also retain some as unlockable rewards for levelling up.
  • Add more options that allow you to roleplay and control your career, such as demand trades, request players be traded or coaches be replaced, make suggestions for the team direction, ask for more playing time, etc.
  • Allow more control over ratings upgrades, i.e. choose to update ratings other than just your key skills.
  • Add a wider variety of Archetypes/Icon Paths, as the current choices are a bit restrictive.
  • Have Traits act more like Badges in NBA 2K's MyCAREER and have them always be equipped as earned boosts/abilities, not a mechanic that needs to be swapped in and out.
  • Allow players to unlock new abilities as they level up, such as selecting the team's jerseys before the game.
  • Add more stats screens, including advanced stats, Per 36 numbers, etc.
  • Prevent players from changing jersey numbers unnecessarily, often to uncommon ones.
  • Have a wider variety of Daily Goals to encourage gamers to play more often, and earn rewards to level up quicker (or unlock more gear/shoes/accessories).
  • Add historical records screens (individual game records, all-time leaders, etc) that update as we play through seasons and break NBA records.
  • Add outdoor court options for our One Court.
  • Have the One Court act like more of a hub similar to MyCOURT, and allow friends to be invited on it to play games or just shoot around with you.
  • Add a Streets World Tour for Court Battles.
  • Add more hairstyles and facial hair options.

Pro-Am, LIVE Run, & LIVE Events

  • Improve camera tracking so that it remains focused on your player, and you don't end up going off-screen in the baseline angles. Automatic zoom-outs would be helpful.
  • Improve online experience for international gamers. From personal experience, online is virtually unplayable in Australia, with jumpshots in particular being impossible.
  • Add squad options similar to 2K Pro-Am, with win-loss record and stat tracking. The ability to customise your team with your own uniforms and court would be great, too.
  • Have more NBA-oriented events and reward crates.
  • Spotlight more members of the community (we're still down to offer up our logos and assets for an NLSC event!), rather than individuals that have nothing to do with NBA Live or the NBA in general.
  • Take positions into account when putting squads together. It's all too easy to end up being placed at small forward when you're a point guard, for example.
  • Have Traits act more like Badges in NBA 2K's MyCAREER and have them always be equipped as earned boosts/abilities, not a mechanic that needs to be swapped in and out.
  • Kick players for bad and selfish play (such as dropping below a certain Teammate Grade).
  • Allow us to pick our own squads for Solo LIVE Events.
  • Allow the game to paused and Instant Replay accessed in Solo LIVE Events.

Roster Management & Customisation

  • Implement the new thirteen-player active roster.
  • Add two-way player contracts, both for the default rosters and Franchise/The One.
  • Implement the correct default home/away jersey assignments, according to what real NBA teams are doing. Have other teams switch jerseys accordingly if there's a conflict with your choice.
  • Bring back the Trade Player function when editing the default rosters. Only having an Assign Player function slows things down, since you can only move one player at a time.
  • Expand Edit and Create Player to include access to full bio data and attributes, including Draft information and any currently hidden tendencies that will affect gameplay.
  • Add a bigger variety of hairstyles and facial hair options for both The One Players and regular Created Players.
  • Add the ability to share custom rosters/sliders with other users. A public file sharing server like the ones in NBA 2K/WWE 2K would be ideal, as it doesn't require you to add other users as friends to share with them.
  • Add the ability to change animation packages (jumpshots, dribbling, dunks, etc).
  • If it's technically feasible with the art and model files, allow us to edit all accessories, including headbands, undershirts, etc.
  • Add the ability to create and share custom Draft classes.
  • Add the ability to edit coaches and staff.
  • Add as many gameplay sliders as possible, so that the gameplay experience can be tweaked to our liking. Default settings should be tuned for realism, though.
  • Allow sliders to be adjusted by single points for better fine-tuning.
  • A lower priority, but in the long run, Create-a-Team and editing of any All-Star/bonus teams (if included) would also be great to have.

Other Modes, Features, & Content

  • Bring back a standalone Playoffs mode, so that we can create our own Playoff brackets and play through a postseason at any time.
  • Bring back a proper 1v1 mode, with scoring. The scrimmage is nice to have for practice, but we miss being able to play actual 1v1 games.
  • Bring back BIG Moments and LIVE Season/Dynamic Season.
  • Feature Legends outside of Ultimate Team, such as the old Decade All-Star teams from a couple of generations back.
  • If there's a chance Legends like Michael Jordan can be signed (i.e. assuming they don't have exclusive deals with 2K), get them into the game!
  • Bring back a standalone All-Star Weekend mode with a Dunk Contest and Three-Point Shootout. Also incorporate it into Franchise and The One. The old mechanics would still be suitable today.
  • Add more retro jerseys, not just the ones that are being worn on certain nights during the current season. Allow these to be selectable by the user, and obtainable in Ultimate Team.
  • Add other special teams for additional bonus content, such as FIBA or Euroleague teams.
  • Add a season/career mode for the WNBA teams.
  • Add a Play with Friends options for Head to Head, so you don't always have to play random opponents (or try your luck when a friend is online).
  • Add more shoes and gear, especially NBA accessories with Nike branding.
  • Add the BIG 3 League, if it can be licensed. The framework is already there with 3v3 gameplay, so it would be really cool!

Presentation & UI

  • Have all measurements in feet, pounds, and inches, or add the ability to switch between imperial and metric measurements. Metric measurements are very distracting to have in PAL regions, and detract from the accuracy of the presentation.
  • Replace the commentators. While the dynamic commentary has been refreshing, the current duo isn't as good as the lead NBA on ESPN team.
  • Alternatively, add more ESPN announcers (including Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy) and rotate the teams game-to-game, similar to NBA 2K.
  • Make menus more user-friendly and attractive. The main menu in NBA Live 19 in particular seemingly hid most of the features and looked cluttered, but the UI needs an overhaul in general.
  • Decrease loading time between menu screens. Going into the wrong screen is particularly painful with the current loading times.
  • Bring back the pause menu between quarters and at halftime, so that you can change strategy and make substitutions before the next quarter begins.
  • Bring back quarter-by-quarter stats displays in the Player and Team Stats screens.
  • Players look great close-up, but a lot of the detail is lost from gameplay camera angles. Whether it's the size of the players relative to the court or possibly the zoom, it's something that should be resolved to ensure that the player faces and models stand out better during gameplay.
  • Cut down on dead spots in commentary. Include more anecdotes, and lines that discuss what's been happening.
  • Expand the atmosphere setting options to include Pre-Season, Regular Season, Playoffs (Early Rounds), Conference Finals, and NBA Finals.
  • Improve crowd reactions so that they react accordingly to the flow of the game. Less excited during dull games and blowouts, rabid when it's a competitive game between rivals.
  • Add more camera options, such as the ability to edit zoom level.
  • Continue to tweak lighting effects for a more realistic look.
  • Add assistant coaches next to the head coaches on the sideline.
  • Order teams in the menu alphabetically by city/location, rather than name (or include the option to do so)
  • Resolve legacy bug with screen not being properly centred on some TVs. Manual adjustment controls in the visual settings would be handy to have here.

Miscellaneous

  • Port the game to the PC (if it has to be released through Origin, so be it!). Ideally, allow it to be modded with roster and art files that can be opened with readily available software (or better yet, some official tools!).
  • Provide additional pre-order bonus content, such as a set number of weekly Ultimate Team packs, a permanent card for Ultimate Team, a handful of Skill Points/Reward Points for instant upgrades/gear purchases, etc.
  • Add an old school camera angle, similar to the isometric angle in NBA Live 95 for a throwback experience.
  • Likewise, simplified old school control options, similar to what the NHL series has done.
  • Changing menu art depending on your "Favourite Team" setting.

+1 : Release on Origin / PC :!:

From what i saw on youtube :

- Animations are still a little bit too robotic
- Work on post game plays
- Commentaries are weak

I'm still compiling my list, but this week's Friday Five is a short breakdown of five ideas I believe NBA Live should borrow from NBA 2K: https://www.nba-live.com/tff-5-ideas-nba-live-nba-2k/

First and foremost we need to put the NBA back in nba live, starting with updating franchise mode, LUT etc, more in tune rosters and gameplay.

For franchise mode I'd like them are in game injuries ,the use of the G League and better ways to improve younger players such as drills you compete in along with the already mentions being able to send players down to the G League.
Allow teams to have 13 active players available each game like in RL instead of the 12 EA continues to put out each year.
Allow the user to sign players to two way contracts (rules apply) and also 10 day contracts.
Instead of just having free agent players sat in the free agent pool have them playing in a another League or country and see the type of numbers there putting up.

Bring back Roster sharing and the ability to create draft classes which also brings me to updating the create a player system where we can choose different body shapes, running styles and the ability to mode faces instead of the preset faces they have now, adding different body types and running styles should also apply across the board to every player making the game look more realistic, adding some more sig shots wouldn't hurt either which takes me on to Presentation.

I think we need to make better use of the ESPN license and add a studio team with say Rachel Nichols, Stephen A, Jalen Rose , Kellaman,T-mac. Paul Pierce, Billups and of course Woj. Also update the commentary team, add more broadcasters like Doris Burke and bring back Mike Breen along with the existing team to add more depth to the booth.

I actually love the Live gameplay and I think they just need to add on it fixing current issues such blocks and steals but also allow us to edit sliders by one point at a time for fine tuning instead of ten at a time, add some tendency sliders but more importantly bring back dynamic DNA and update daily again.

Bring back Big Moments.

Bring NBA live back to pc.

Release NBA live 20 as a beta in the summer and get feedback from the community.

Stop focusing on streetball, pick up ball at the local rec, it's a hook but shouldn't be the main attraction.

I made a list on my website, but I'm copying and pasting it here

1. PLAY CALLING/COACHING

-Inbound plays need to be more accessible and not just available after a time out
-You cannot do anything or much of anything during cut scenes, that time during replays or substitution should allow you to make on the fly coaching changes before the next play goes live
-ATO plays should be customizable for certain players
-Quick substitution (like FIFA)
- If a player picks up two quick fouls, you should be able to sub him out at that dead ball. You shouldn't have to wait until the next dead ball to get him out of the game. FIFA has a mechanic that NBA Live could use to make suggested quick subs
-Play calling needs to be consistent
Plays break down due to glitches and sometimes you have no idea that the play broke down. Play calling is really basic and if there isn't going to be an overhaul, it has to work properly.
A lot of NBA Live players don't run plays when they play, but there has to be a way to ensure players use the feature. It shouldn't be pick n roll 24/7 because it's the easiest thing to do
-There should always be an initial point to start a play, if a play breaks down, the play should reset
-Play wheel should be customizable
You should be able to pick all of your plays that you want for each team as go-to plays
More coaching segments. The ability to change lineups between quarters. A time-out segment of 20-30 seconds to make adjustments.
-Motion Offense being turned off should mean all the way off and give users the ability to dictate traffic by using the d-pad. In NBA Live 19 players still move and set screens when they shouldn't be.
-Automatic post ups should be gone.
-The AI needs to understand where the ball is and move accordingly
too many times the AI decides to take up your space when you have the ball
-Fast Breaks offense and defense need to have better logic
There are times where the defensive player doesn't defend the corner three on fast breaks.
Maybe look at overall logic in the game, especially the double team
Sometimes double team would be set to off and CPU teammates will still double team

2. TEAMS SHOULD PLAY TO AN IDENTITY

-Court Battles introduces team rules & Identities
You can have teams play spread offense, or screen heavy offense, this should be applied to NBA teams to create identities. You also have defensive rules also which would differentiate the good and bad defensive teams if it's linked to that identity.
You should be able to apply these changes to the team you are controlling in Franchise if you want to go in a different direction. If you are able to control all teams, you should be able to change identities to all teams and CPU controlled teams should be smart enough to find players to fit that system, not just get the best player available

3. NARRATIVE GAME PLAY

Every game should be a clean slate for both teams and as the game progresses from the tip, that's when things SHOULD get determined. The talent you have on your team should determine how well you perform from a game to game basis. It should progress in Franchise Mode. If Paul George is on a shooting slump, it should be reflected in game play until YOU as the user get him out of that slump.
In-game injuries should be a part of narrative game play, if you can't figure out how to do it, certain ratings should take a hit during the injury period unless it's a serious injury, then just have him sit out.

4. PLAYER MOVEMENT

-Player movement took a step forward this year but I feel it could be improved.
Jostling animations (on and off-ball) should be manual, similar to FIFA by pressing the B button on XB1 to grab and hold players. It would allow for more realistic foul calls
-Foul system is flawed
Player weight class should be part of character building and it should reflect in game.
-Player agility animations could be smoother, especially when retreating on defense.
-Not a lot of space on the court for a ton of automatic animations, devs should try to reduce all of them and give the control to the user.
-I want players to feel more FREE. When I play NHL online, I can enjoy the game play because I feel I have total control over my player, not the same with NBA Live.
-Bring back Rag Doll Physics for collision detection, it would help for more realistic foul calls, more players stumbling, maybe player injuries.

5. GET RID OF 'SPAM STEAL' CULTURE

-Spamming the steal button is a way of life in NBA Live 19, nobody wants to play real defense, they would rather double team a player and spam rather than guard their man who is wide open under the bucket. This has got to change.
-Get rid of steal traits, this game should be about skill, if you happen to play good defense knocking the ball loose, that's how you should be rewarded for stealing.
I noticed when I turned the steal slider down to zero, spamming the steal button will not only get you out of position, but you will get left in the dust. Let the collisions, position and playing passing lanes determine the steals. People might not agree with it, but it's annoying being the only one back on defense while everyone is swiping at the ball handler

6. THREE POINT CULTURE/STAMINA ISSUES

-NBA Live isn't balanced and three point shooting has been OP all year and it feels that stamina doesn't really affect shots
NHL has a stamina bar that doesn't replenish unless you are steady. The majority of NBA Live players hold down turbo all game and while some of the changes to the game did penalize players, I feel that maybe the bar replenishes way too fast. I really don't pay attention to the bar because I don't look at the feet, but if you get body checked or hit hard in NHL 19, depending on the excessive nature of the hit, you will lose a certain amount of stamina and you will have to recover in game by not doing too much. This method allows other players to get involved while you recover. The class system in NHL to me is way better than NBA Live because it bring better balance to OTP and you literally have to play to your strengths.
-The more tired you are, your ratings should take a hit unless you're a specialist then you should have a slight boost. This should apply to both offense and defense.
Allowing this to be a case will get big men involved more and less players running around for no reason.

7. FRANCHISE MODE/SEASON MODE/PLAYOFF MODE

-Is it really hard to have all three in the game?
-Franchise needs a lot more depth, rules, logic, customization. It really needs to be a whole game in itself. NBA Live lacks smarts and giving franchise mode a huge boost in AI logic will go a long way for offline players.
-WNBA needs a franchise mode with rules and regulations, plus playoff mode
-Playoff mode is something that people will do around the time of the playoffs, but people like me that love playoff series will live in this mode.
-Season Mode will be something like LIVE SEASONS and all the roster changes that are made from the dev stand point will be in this mode with the option to download rosters for play now or the only.
-The ability to import updated rosters to a franchise

8. NBA/WNBA FOCAL POINT

-While everyone was talking about NBA Street and EA should bring it back, it cause the devs to heavily focus on THE ONE mode. I feel as if the devs forgot about the NBA/WNBA, next year the two professional leagues need more
-ESPN Presentation needs an overhaul to represent what it is now
-Commentary needs to keep evolving, I feel story telling should be on the back burner and focus more on what's going on in the game being played. Stories get out dated real quick, so it's better to focus on the basketball and exciting plays. Stories should only be talked about Pre-game (similar to what NHL does). It would be easier to switch stories in and out that way, I'm assuming.
-WNBA should feel as authentic as the NBA
-Bring back classic jerseys for Play Now
-Alternate courts and classic courts should be in the game since you have some of the logos in Court Battles. If not allow us to create custom courts for NBA and import them into franchise.
-Any type of customization in offline modes should be allowed to be imported into franchise mode
-CPU vs USER at times doesn't feel balanced, not sure why Reggie Jackson is unstoppable for the whole game.
Balance is an issue overall in NBA Live
-Head to Head is literally unplayable in NBA Live 19, that mode needs an overhaul.
-Create an Arena for Franchise mode, team rename, new identity etc.

9. COURT BATTLES/ULTIMATE TEAM MERGER

-Merge the two and give Ultimate Team Court Battle's game play, Ultimate Team game play needs a boost because it lacks fun IMO
-Ultimate Team should be a culture within the community
-Instead of having pack odds items could be bought in the store the same way now. Rare cards should be the most expensive and hard to get.
I only say this because since we can't use legends in Play Now or have a legends pool (probably due to licensing agreements, which sucks)
-Use of Custom Courts in LUT would be nice
-You should be able to use your ONE Player in Ultimate Team and Play Now
-Players should play like themselves
Not only in LUT but in Play Now. This is something that NBA Live lacks.

10. MISC

-We need more off the backboard shots under the rim
-The one-hand shots that never go in can be frustrating
-Most NBA Live players want more dunks, I want more layups packages because the more tired players are, they are less likely to do power dunks. Adding more types of layups could cancel out some of the BS animations on the baseline.
-Fatigue needs to be a lot better, it was a down grade from last year's game.
-Players don't sweat as much
-Fatigue meter should be active, add a 2nd wind maybe
-Get rid of meters under player's foot and put in on the bottom lower screen or top of the screen. Just an idea. I never been a fan of them because you can rarely see what's going on with them, especially in a fast paced game (see NHL)
-Plus/Minus stat tells a lot in the game play, but is nowhere to be found in game unless you go in to the pause menu.
-Every year there's a glitch where the CPU ignores play calling and just tries to bully their way into the paint, there has to be a solution for this.
-After every 6th personal foul, should be a technical free throw
-Reduce the amount of Gold traits equipped (1 or 2) - Probably why players are over powered in LIVE RUN
-Tendencies should have their own ratings so it's easier for players to play within their game and range. Ben Simmons shouldn't be shooting step back threes.
-Hot Spots need to make a return to the game.
-Created Players should be able to pick their favorite spots on the floor for higher percentage shots, but should be some what limited to their skill set.
-The reason players should have more available ratings because certain ratings being inflated create problems for players wanting to play like their real counterparts.

I think for inbound playcalling (and playcalling in general) they need to have an option to pick a play where players can choose plays based on the desired outcome: Redick for 3, Irving pick and roll, Thompson flare screen, Davis post entry, etc.

Having play names is nice, but unless I study the playbook, I'll have no idea what the result of that play will be

Franchise/season/The League
-something needs to be done about the weekly format. It just doesn't seem to be working. It's kinda weird to play a game and not have the whole league synchronize each day.
fix basics of NBA season and rosters. Looks like there's an option for daily updates in franchise but I think in The League/The One it's still weekly
-so they added spots for two way players, but 13 players need to be active, plus the two way players. Two way players can only play a certain amount of games
-add more contract options, 10 days, non-guaranteed contracts (especially for 2nd round picks)
-There should be some sort of message for each player that you negotiated with that signed elsewhere.
-There should be a training camp section of the calendar where you can sign free agents and non-guaranteed deals to round out the roster. It's weird how it jumps from simulating the last week of free agency right into the season.
-Scouting is always a weird thing in season modes. I think they have a good start with the list of prospects, but most of it should be wrong and you have scouts that will work to update the mistakes (instead of having a bunch of question marks to fill) to get a better picture of how these players will turn out. The list should be fluid and players should move up and down during the season too.
-Ability to edit numbers/positions of players in Franchise

The One
-Allow invitation of friends to The One court for shootaround and games. It's kind of annoying that you spend so much time designing and adding to your court but you never get to play on it
-Add more WNBA gear, jerseys to equip onto players.
-Add more gear for females to wear

LUT
-Allow court editing for your custom LUT team.
-Add only throwback versions of players that make sense. Use important years of players' careers, as opposed to simply adding 1 or subtracting one for a previous year just for the sake of adding an extra year. I'd honestly prefer adding a player that's not in the mode at all at that point.
-Speaking of which, have someone that's familiar with these players when creating throwback versions. Ratings and appearances are way off at times. Like how does Jason Richardson not have a finishing over like 71 in any version of him? Hakeem/Yao Midrange etc
-marketplace has been useless in 18 and 19 for anything other than players and jerseys. Add more coaches, throwback coaches, alternate courts, throwback courts, and add all the jerseys into the mode. Classic jerseys have not been in LUT, which is a shame

Player customization
-give us the ability to add/remove undershirts and leggings on nba players

Injuries
-IN-GAME INJURIES need to be a thing in Live 20. It's been over a decade since we've had legit in-game injuries in Live and they need to have players sit out quarter/game/multiple games/season
-There need to be more simulated injuries. I check 3 weeks in and there were only 2 injuries in the whole league. There should be at least 1 or 2 on each team imo. Also, players can return from major injuries with minor injuries so they don't come back 100% right way. Sprained ankles turn into sore ankles etc

Commentary
-ok, the commentary is what it is, I don't expect them to sign some crazy good announcers, but at least make the lines make sense in the context of what's happening. They used a bunch of flagrant foul lines for intentional fouls this year. Also, I tied up a series 2-2 and they said I was the Western Conference Champions. I wound up winning the title as the Warriors and they said it was our first since 1983 and The Process worked

Art
-There should be alternate and classic courts that teams use during the season in the game, period.
-They really need someone double checking for accuracy as plenty of new players have been put in with wrong portraits, faces. Also prominent mistakes with equippable jerseys like the Sonics jerseys. Like c'mon man, it takes 2 seconds to google and check for accuracy.

Gameplay/sliders
-The team seems to have an issue each year balancing offline play vs people complaining online about pvp and online play. Perhaps they should have different sliders so complaints about one experience doesn't ruin the other.

Ideas for new content
-The League for female players. Something they said they wanted but didn't have time for this year.
-Add BIG 3. The framework is there. Half court, 3 on 3 mode, First to 50, 14 sec shot clock, special free throw rules, 4 point shot. They have a lot of players already in the game from LUT legends. Rashard Lewis, Baron, Kenyon Martin, Amare, Al Harrington, Jermaine

the playbook view in the game is so terrible, it needs to be a lot better and we also need more than quick plays. I want SETS. I noticed that when I turn off play art, I'm more in tuned in what's going on on the court. I should have been kept it off lol.

Yeah man timeouts and whatnot can be very situational so there needs to be a way to identify plays for quick 2 or open 3, etc.

Speaking of which, tapping L1 to send the guy on the pop or roll is still a bad idea. I liked it last year when you let go and they went which made it easier for pick and slips. A lot of times they don't understand sense of urgency so I wind up hitting L1 to send them but I get the playcalling menu instead so I get stuck and get a shot clock violation

Here's my Wishlist. I've tried to incorporate a lot of points from the community already, but I'll be adding the other suggestions that have been posted in this topic in the list that I compile and submit to EA Sports.

Key Points/Overview

  • Place more emphasis on NBA content, modes, and gameplay. The Streets and LIVE Run are great hooks, but basketball gamers who want a full experience are feeling turned off by the lack of depth to the NBA in NBA Live.
  • Continue to improve animation quality so that the action is more lifelike, and control responsiveness so that players don't feel so heavy with exaggerated momentum.
  • Enhance authenticity and realism in roster management, strategy, player performance, in-game injuries, signature animations, and overall atmosphere.
  • Add more content, options, and details to create deeper experiences in Franchise, Ultimate Team, and The One (particularly The League side of things).
  • Add more customisation options (deeper Create-a-Player), and the ability to share custom content with other users (Rosters, Sliders, etc).
  • Bring back features and modes that have fallen by the wayside, for a deeper product and better functionality Standalone (Playoffs mode, various stats screens, etc).
  • Add in-game injuries.
  • Add Season/Career Modes for the WNBA.
  • Add more bonus content that's easily accessible (i.e. historical players outside of Ultimate Team, Special Teams, FIBA and Euroleague teams, Season mode for WNBA teams).
  • Release a PC version.

Gameplay

  • Continue to improve the quality of animations so that they are less stiff and more lifelike. This includes phasing out the old unrealistic animations, adding ones with more fluidity, smooth transitions between animations, and appropriate speed (some animations still play out too quickly, adding to the awkward aesthetic).
  • Add in-game injuries on tough collisions, with the likelihood governed by a combination of gameplay sliders, fatigue, and individual player attributes.
  • Add a button control for calling timeouts (on offense) and calling for an intentional foul (on defense).
  • Refine the trigger zone for dunks and layups to cut down on inside cheese, and ensure that there's more a midrange game/pulling up from midrange is more viable.

Franchise

  • In general, bring back the depth and functionality from previous incarnations of Dynasty/Franchise mode.
  • Go back to the day-by-day calendar. A week-by-week calendar doesn't work for the NBA, where teams are playing each day. Events and results must automatically synchronise.
  • If in-game injuries are implemented (see above), have serious injuries carry over into future games, until a player is fully healed.
  • Add options to control the frequency of trades, injuries, etc (or disable them completely if desired). Basically, start incorporating the customisation options of NBA 2K's MyLEAGUE.
  • Add the ability to hire and fire head coaches, as well as other members have staff. Set varying ratings/abilities for staff, rather than having them upgraded with XP.
  • Add the ability to freely scrimmage and run drills with your team, so that you can practice with them and increase their chances of improving. There should also be more than one training session a month, with free scrimmages anytime.
  • Add the ability to scout rookies during the season, as in older games.
  • Add the ability to edit the generated rookies, so that you can add real prospects if you want to spend the time doing so.
  • Bring back the Trade Block function, so that you can make players available and invite offers from other teams.

Roster Management & Customisation

  • Implement the new thirteen-player active roster.

Presentation & UI

  • Have all measurements in feet, pounds, and inches, or add the ability to switch between imperial and metric measurements. Metric measurements are very distracting to have in PAL regions, and detract from the accuracy of the presentation.
  • Replace the commentators. NBA Live 19 hands-down had the worst commentary duo of the entire series, and it was terrible to go to them after having the lead NBA on ESPN announce team.

  • Old school camera angle, similar to the isometric angle in NBA Live 95 for a throwback experience.
  • Likewise, simplified old school control options, similar to what the NHL series has done.
  • Changing menu art depending on your "Favourite Team" setting.

Is that rule not accounted for in NBA Live 19? No techs if all available subs have fouled out and someone has to remain in the game with six or more fouls?

A lot of times they don't understand sense of urgency so I wind up hitting L1 to send them but I get the playcalling menu instead so I get stuck and get a shot clock violation

As long as you don't have to keep holding it down for them to stay in place. Having to hold it down to keep the pick in place while also trying to make your move was pretty cumbersome.

Adding a button for timeouts and intentional fouls would be great. This used to be on the select button but for some reason they decided to make it a second pause button.

I hate pausing the game to call timeout only to see it greyed out and having to unpause and repeat. Also, intentional foul has no sense of urgency and you always lose a ton of time chasing for the foul, especially off a basket where you get switched to the guy guarding the ball handler but you are in the front court already and have to run back

Yeah, having the two pause buttons is redundant. It's another example of functionality we used to have and have since lost, so while it's arguably small in the grand scheme of things, it would still be great to have it again.

On the fly timeouts are called by pressing the bottom left on the touchpad on ps4 to save you having to pause the game for a timeout.

Good to know, though there's no reason it shouldn't be the entire touchpad. In any event, thanks for the tip! (Y)

The Xbox One version doesn't have a timeout/intentional foul button?

You can call time out by pressing the left menu button on Xbox One, you have to press two buttons to intentional foul, unless I been doing it wrong
