He seemed really enthusiastic about the job (as most people would be) when he got it, but did he really do anything of significance when he was with EA?

It's difficult to say given the roughness of NBA Live 14 and his short tenure there, but the guy knows basketball - he's a former pro player, after all - and NBA 2K15, his first 2K title, felt like a big jump forward. I think it's a promising hire.

Notably, it seems that former senior producer on NBA 2K Rob Jones has also joined EA. Look, it comes down to EA giving the team the resources to get the job done, and the tech being up to scratch, but them bringing in key figures from the NBA 2K team does suggest a certain level of commitment to NBA Live. I find it promising, at least; the most exciting/optimistic development with NBA Live in some time. I know that's not saying all that much in some respects, but it does suggest they're not giving up on the game, and that's a big deal given the pessimism and shortcomings post-NBA Live 19.

If nothing else it suggests they haven't quietly canned the series and do want to make a good go of it. Whether it can succeed is a another matter entirely and yet to be seen, but again, it's the most optimistic development we've had in over a year.

SwaggyPLino and I went in depth talking about Scott O'Gallagher, including his background, and what he could bring to the NBA Live franchise in his return (We also touch on Rob Jones)

Figured I would share.

EA Sports recently announced renewal deals for NHL and UFC but no NBA news.

The attention and Fandom around the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X is massive and EA Sports should definitely capitalize on that in the NBA market and they need to update their fans on the future of NBA Live they've too silent and that's concerning and it's not doing their already diminished fanbase justice. NBA is too big of a market for EA Sports to bypass we need options.

I agree with this, 100%. So much opportunity, yet such a small presence from EA Sports.

As discussed here and on the podcast, the fact that they've brought in some prominent names from 2K suggests they haven't given up on NBA Live completely. However, it would be nice to hear something, and they'd do well to start talking about it a little more.
