Hey guys,

I am currently going through and checking for variations in the vertex counts of player models in 2K16-2K19. Some players will have nearly identical geometry and even have the same number of faces, but the amount of vertices differs by a couple. There are only a few variations (if any) in each game but it is important for the tool to know each of them to avoid unintended consequences during the conversion process.

For instance, the 2K17 Reggie Miller I released had 17123 vertices, while the Chris Mullin I previewed had 17124 vertices (I had to add in this vertex count to the tool because it was expecting 17123 vertices and originally his face showed up as a bunch of random polygons). The same can happen with 2K16 conversions, too.

What's great about these conversions, is that you get to have the face while not having the skinny body type that was terrible in 2K17 (Example, Chris Mullin himself had the skinny body type)

The tool is done and I will begin working on the full tutorial soon. I am going through the list and doing a bunch of conversions fairly quickly to repeat the process over and over so that I can be ready to make the tutorial as seamless as possible. I've got a decent sized list for 2K17 conversions to do, does anyone have any requests for 2K16, 2K18 or 2K19 conversions? I will prioritize the requests of players that are missing from the game files this year and that we need in 2K20.

This is what the official version of the tool looks like (it will be the same thing except on Windows OS - as I happen to be using my Macbook right now)

I hate to continue to bring it up, but are functional animations still an eventual goal? Or is that something that is not possible or not a priority. I just remember it was postponed until further conversions from older games were achievable. No worries if not, just of great interest to me.

Regardless, amazing work with what you’ve been able to accomplish. Truly revolutionizes modding, quite frankly.

the cool thing about this year's game is that all the converted cyberfaces can keep their original cyber face ID as long as you use the most recent version of looyh's hook

If you recall, I stated previously that while 2K18 & 2K19 conversions will be beginner-friendly, 2K16 & 2K17 conversions will not (require a lot more steps in Blender). For the official release of the tool and as part of the included Blender add-on for 2K16 & 2K17, there are several new buttons that essentially operate as "skip" buttons. When clicked, certain steps are done for you, and then you move on to the next step that YOU need to do. However, (for experienced Blender users) if you don't want to skip forward and want to do any of the steps yourself for maximum control over the final product, you can. You don't have to use any of the automation for any of the steps.

Hopefully this will help make 2K16 & 2K17 conversions more beginner friendly and much faster. Also, more ideal for mass conversions. See below for a showcase of these new features and a complete 2K17 conversion done in just an 8 minute unedited video. I'd recommend speeding up the video since it is unedited to go through it faster.

Absolutely they are a goal. We'll see how achievable that goal is, but to be honest I am really looking forward to looking into it. I had to stop myself from digging too far into it cause once I enter a rabbit hole like that who knows how long it will be. But upon the tool/tutorial release, I will split time between getting the Blender Importer/Exporter fixed up, general modding tools, and working on bringing over the facial animations. The nice thing is that all the stuff pertaining to the animations can be brought over in the future to already converted players. That stuff is in a completely separate part of the file from the geometry data and stuff that loads into Blender. So it's not like we will have to redo conversions later.

Wow I can't believe I'm this late to the party with Looyh's Hook, but DAMN that is a gamechanger! I just now got it installed and tested unused cyberface slots and slots up in the 20 thousands - that will make things SO much simpler for these converted players. I won't have to be going through the ID list and picking players that I don't mind overwriting. Practically endless CF ID slots.

I will be uploading the following 2K17 conversions tonight. Total of 21 players. All of these players are the 2K defaults with no extra edits or modding of my own. I just want to give you guys the conversions right out of the box so that you have the freedom to make your own mods with them, and you aren't tied to any changes I made out of personal taste.

Reggie Miller will be included with these players since the version of him I released a few weeks ago had my own personal edits to his headshape and the face textures. This Miller will be the unaltered 2K default. Mitch McGary is the only 2K17 request that I did not complete, because when I extracted his files I kept getting an error when I tried to open them in 7 Zip.

Below is a mediafire link to a folder containing one zip file with all of the players in there, as well as individual zip files you can download for each individual player. As I said earlier, these conversions are done with the default 2K17 files for each player, with the exception of one of them - Clyde Drexler (young with hair) was a custom face that @Dee4Three made from scratch, so credits to him for that:

A few important notes and clarifications regarding the players included:

---> When it comes to 2K17 conversions, unlike 2K18 & 2K19 conversions, what you are ultimately getting converted is just the headshape, the face textures that go with it, as well as the headband and whatever is found inside their head (eyes, mouth, etc). It is joined with a completely different 2K20 body (all of them to the same, in fact). And you can't shrinkwrap the new body back to the 2K17 body because their posture differs from 2K18+ models. Among other issues, accessories wouldn't fit.

---> You can use the Auto Shrinkwrap tool and/or the 3D Accessory Tool just like you would with other 2K20 files. You can also add hair or facial hair from 2K20 of your choosing just like you would with a 2K20 mod.

--> In many cases, the neck of the model you see in Blender (without the appearance_info.RDAT factored in) will appear longer than usual. The reason for this is that the eyes of the converted player and the 2K20 base player must be lined up to get the best results with eye movements, and due to the previously mentioned change in posture of the models after 2K17 the neck often looks unusual because the head must be rotated/moved upwards and forwards. To compensate for the unusual neck length, you will want edit the values for "head.ty" in the appearance_info.RDAT file and adjust as desired.

---> Periodically, you might see the forehead/top of the head not matching up completely to the surrounding areas (purely from a texture standpoint). This comes from the "face_wrinklecolor_o.*************.dds" file. Often, when that texture shows up, it will look too bright compared to the rest of the head. You can go into Photoshop or paint.NET and adjust the brightness, hue, contrast, etc. to better match up with the rest of the head if it is a problem. Or perhaps even manipulate the "Min" and "Max" color values in the "face_wrinklecolor_o.TXTR" file.
