*V2 OUT NOW!* Random Cyberface Generator for Jeek's Cyberface Mixer

First off, I just want to give a HUGE shoutout to Jeek313 because the Cyberface Mixer is one of the best and most original things to hit the 2K modding community in a long time! Big thanks to you Jeek! View his thread here: https://forums.nba-live.com/viewtopic.php?f=267&t=110913

Now, to what this is about, and that's my Random Cyberface Generator that I have made for use with Jeek's tool...
I have created a spreadsheet that will generate random values based on formulas to give you the best chance of having realistic but random faces come from the Cyberface Mixer. This will allow you to quickly pump out a large batch of cyberfaces all at once.

HOW TO USE:

- First make sure you have followed all the steps to setting up and installing Jeek's Cyberface Mixer. You can find that info in the thread linked at the top of this OP.
- Then check out my video tutorial below on how to use my spreadsheet in tandem with his tool!

Version 2 is available now!

New Features:

- Optimizations have been made to increase the quality of the faces generated! (more realistic faces at a much better rate. I'd say you'll get a usable face around 95% of the time)

- You can now export the "HS Results" sheet as a CSV straight out of Excel and drag it into Jeek's mixer!

(**AFTER EXPORTING THE SHEET, THE NAME OF "HSResults" WILL CHANGE TO THE NAME OF THE EXPORTED FILE! DO NOT SAVE THE SPREADSHEET! IT WILL OVERWRITE YOUR GENERATOR AND YOU'LL HAVE TO REDOWNLOAD IT!**)

Good job! I'm gonna link it in my thread. (Y) I don't have MS Office at the moment so I can't try it out for myself right now, but I will soon.

One idea for improvement: why not make your Results tab in the same format as my template? That way people could export the CSV directly from Excel, without having to manually copy the values to Google Spreadsheets. Trust me, that step will get tedious!

Some notes on how to get it into a format accepted by the current version of my tool:
  • The current version requires 16-17 columns. Their order matters. The Description column is optional - if there are 17 columns, then the second column is expected to contain the description and it gets ignored; if there are 16 columns, then the second column is expected to contain the Base cyberface ID.
  • Download my template as a .xlsx, that might make it easier to copy stuff from it.
  • Feel free to keep your red header. For now, the tool will yell warnings ("Skipping lines 1-2 because they don't contain a valid recipe"), but I'll add custom detection for your header in the next version so that it'll just ignore it (Y)
  • To get the player name preview columns, copy my entire Cyberface IDs sheet, then copy the cell formula. Note that the formula contains a named range "CyberfaceIDs"; I'm not sure right now if Excel supports named ranges, so you might have to replace it with the following address: 'Cyberface IDs'!A2:G2328
  • The dropdowns on the right are made simply using Data Validation using values from a hidden sheet called Enums. If you don't want to bother with them, you can just keep the last four columns blank and the export will still work, just make sure they have headers (this will make sure that the empty columns will show up in the CSV)
  • Maybe set the default output IDs to some unoccupied range, such as the 50000+ range that you used in the video, so that people don't accidentally overwrite their 0001-0050 range

Let me know if you need any help or if you have some suggestions for improving the format, I'm open to ideas!

Also, consider uploading your preview draft class (with your default CFID range assigned) to 2K Share and linking it in your video tutorial! :wink: (I would have done it, but since there is a limit of 5 online draft classes, I'm saving it for my fictional draft class project)

Recommendation for users:
To get even better success rate, I recommend going through and deleting rows with unwanted cyberfaces from the Base and Skin tabs. For example, you could get rid of all the shitty historical cyberfaces that aren't scans (they're usually malformed, especially in the back so no hair fits on them, and the textures are also poor quality) and the wrinkly old guys. Screenshots of all male cyberfaces can be found here.

I finally found the time to try your spreadsheet and it works like a charm (Y)

I've noticed that Excel exports CSVs with semicolon separators rather than commas, so I've updated the Cyberface Mixer tool. The new version (v0.85) automatically determines whether the file is comma-separated or semicolon-separated.

It also newly auto-detects column order based on column headers:

  • The first non-empty column is considered the Output CF ID column
  • The first column named (exactly) "Base" is used as the Base CF ID (player shape)
  • The first column named (exactly) "Skin" is used as the Skin CF ID (texture and material properties)
  • All the other columns are optional (the app will just show a warning if they're missing, but it will continue working)

Thanks to these changes, you can now export your Results tab as-is to CSV directly from Excel and it should be accepted by the tool. (Just don't forget to replace the first column with output CF IDs).

By the way, I've noticed that you sometimes generate tattoos with 0.0 intensity - these won't be visible in-game, so try to generate values between, say, 0.5 - 2.0

Okay I've finally came back to 2K21. I can't really stand this game, but I'm going to give it another shot for about the 13th time lol. So this is awesome that you've implemented that logic! I'll fix the tattoo intensity generation. I thought 0.0 was just the lowest intensity, I didn't realize it wouldn't show the tattoos at all. So I'll change that to go from 1 to 2. Should I implement the other tabs you've got as well? Is that logic inside the Cyberface Mixer yet to read those column names too? Because if it will make it a more fluid experience I definitely will. Because error messages are scary, even if they mean nothing lol.

Up to you! I don't think the player names are necessary, it's just handy if people want to come back and quickly see which players is a certain face made of. But adding it shouldn't take a lot of work anyways. :)

I’ve got an update coming for this within the week! I’ve done some fine tuning and have got the success rate of getting a realistic and usable face up to about 95% of the time! Way higher than before! So stay tuned...

- low quality
- too recognizable
- poor compatibility

Hi author, I used your table, but there are problems with the face shapes produced. It directly leads to the crash of the game. Is there anything you need to pay attention to?

I love the randomiser for adding cfs for the club generated players in my career.
Is there a way to make it just generate a certain skin shade?
It would be useful rather than having to check each one after to find one that matches the player in question.

Hey, did you find a fix ? I have the same issue.

EDIT : fixed, it was my microsoft excel that was out of date. Tool work well.
