NBA ReWritten 1948-49 Roster

Hey everyone! I have created an all in one roster for 2k21 that is set in the 1948-49 season. I have completely cleared the record books of the league, and of all the teams, so as you play, you get to write the records for your own league, and compile your own Hall of Fame, Champions, MVPs, etc.! This roster is obviously not a "true" recreation of real life, as I was limited with the 30 team limit on pc, so I have attempted to have the 30 teams be comprised of the real ones from the era, and then teams that feel as if they fit the period. I have rebranded almost all the teams logo wise from the servers, and done the rosters for almost all teams as well (and to the full degree that I plan on doing). This roster has all the majority of the players from the 49 season, as well as superstar Bob Kurland, who never actually played pro-ball but was a great what-if, as many compared him to Mikan! The roster has been tested up to 3 full seasons in the future and works, but it will take some micro-managing to keep it more stable (game likes to create free agents that are too good for the roster) so you will want to keep an eye on that. Typically if I see someone from the FA list that is above a 69 rating (or above a B+ in 3pt shooting) I edit them down. You certainly don't have to do this, but for me it feels right. I have some sliders I am working on as I play, but they aren't quite ready for release yet (hopefully in a few days). Currently I have the 1949 Draft as well, which features 37 REAL LIFE Prospects from 1949 (and 1 or 2 that were actually in the league in 48 but I forgot to originally add them to the roster). I imagine there will be issues that pop up, but for now I think it is completely playable. Hope all of you can check it out and enjoy!

Just downloaded from the 2k servers, then exported the roster using the 2k Fantasy Star Tool. There are a few tutorials around on youtube on how to do it.

Need version 1.25 of it, and then also need 1.04 of NBA 2K with that manifest. Sorry I am terrible at explaining the process, but there are videos that can help. There's probably another tool around that lets you export the roster as well, that was just the one I used.

It doesn't let me use it, I have the fantasy star, It just doesn't let me edit or do anything, no matter what.

Probably have to change your manifest and exe to an earlier version for nba 2k21. 1.04 if i remember right.

I should have the 1949 and 1950 Draft classes completed and out sometime this weekend. Was hoping to use the cyberface mixer to really create some awesome faces for these rookies, but it seems to crash the game 90% of the time i assign one (got it to work with Bill Sharman but that was it). So the faces will only be somewhat close on some of them. Not sure what I am doing wrong on the mixer?

Just updated the roster. Noticed that Earl Cureton who was on the free agent list had stats in his history so he would often be the record book leader if he got signed by anyone. 1949 draft class is also released, just search my user id to download it. 1950 class is close, maybe by tonight. If anyone has downloaded either of these and tried them out I'd love to hear how it is going. My hope is to make draft classes for every year and just play the full history of the NBA through. 2k21 is a bit stubborn with its errors tho so not sure if this will be possible all the way through or not.

Alright. The 1950 NBA Draft Class is uploaded (and already updated once, cause i initially forgot to make sure Cousy's years pro was at 0). 44 Real life players from that draft (give or take a couple years for about 3 of them, + a fun addition from 1930s ball for you to draft if you like the idea of that). Tendencies aren't perfect and I will probably circle back to tweak them a bit more once I get a few more draft classes completed, but a few sims in myleague with the draft class looks good in their rookie and sophomore seasons. As usual, 2k likes to create a bunch of random rookie free agents due to the (purposeful) low quality of players in the league, so you will have to keep an eye out for those players sneaking in and winning spots on the all rookie team and whatnot (in the 3 sims I did, only 1 snuck onto the first team, and that was in the test before I remembered to fix Cousy's years to make him a rookie). I will start work on 1951 in the coming days.

1953 NBA Draft Class has now been uploaded. Now that I have created 5 years worth of draft classes, I will likely slow down a bit on preparing the classes and do some playing/testing. These draft classes should all be very playable based on some test sims (definitely pay attention to the random gens the game makes though) but I am sure tendencies can be greatly improved over time as I play through and see where things are for a lot of people. I have also made a small update in the "NBA ReWritten 1948-49" full roster file, adding in some key staff members to teams (Lakers original owners Ben Berger and Sid Hartman, better cyberface match imo for Coach Kundla, and also for Joe Lapchick of the Knicks) Again, if you are playing this let me know what you are thinking of it so far. It's been a lot of fun to work on so far, and I plan on continuing work on it, so I hope people are enjoying it.

Ok I lied, haven't really been playing much, but have been continuing to edit. All teams/players on the 1948-49 NBA ReWritten roster & the top 40 or so prospects in the 1949 NBA Draft Class should now have no modern gear (pads/rubberbands/tape, etc) and should be sporting either Chuck Taylors or Converse All Stars, as well as short shorts! I had initially not planned on doing that, but Bassman58 suggested doing it, and once I got rolling with it the immersion factor greatly increased, so I'm happy to say it didn't take toooo long to do as I had feared.

I have also made the Boston Garden and Madison Square Garden look MUCH closer to their time appropriate versions, but unfortunately this rebranding has disappeared the Celtics and Knicks logos respectively, but it seemed like a fair trade off for how good those two key arenas now look. Once you start your MyLeague save with this roster, I highly recommend searching for the user "haymo_of_thor160" and using his logos he has made for the Celtics and the Knicks. They are tremendous and accurate for the time period.

I have also changed the shooting stances of some players to be more time period appropriate than they were before. The big name in that group is Joe Fulks of the Warriors, but there's about 7 or 8 guys I have given that shooting form too. Plan to give more people that form over time, but it's a low priority task.

This is excellent work so far, great job! One idea that would make the experience more authentic would be to get some custom courts that have the 3 point line removed. Also Sticky-Fingers has a early scoreboard that I think would fit the time period well (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=107930&start=200#p2027745) but it would have to be ported to 2K21. I'm sure he would help you out!

Yeah that is something I am interested in figuring out but I have no skills with court making lol. Thanks for the pointing out of the scoreboard, i'll check it out and reach out to him.

I have updated again because there was some sort of crash/freeze at 70% when loading a game introduced in the last update for the celtics and knicks games, so they are back to different courts again and seem to be working now.

Very very very small update (basically 1 player). In my current playthrough where I am enjoying the mod and just kind of checking the roster for bugs, noticed that Arnie Risen thinks he's Steph Curry with regards to his 3pt attempts, so I have cut his tendencies to shoot 3s completely out lol. I'm sure I'll find others like this as I play through, but so far the testing is going really well (except my Lakers gave up a 24 pt lead to lose to Kentucky in one game!) Right now through the first week of the season, my league leader in 3pt attempts is averaging 3 attempts per game (with 1.7 makes). So I think the settings are getting there. I'm working to try to bring minutes played up over the whole league and then I'll be perfectly happy with the settings file and will release it.

I have now uploaded the 1954 NBA Draft Class. The big star is Bob Pettit, but there's a few diamonds in the rough in there that would go onto have some good careers as well. Also 2 or 3 guys from earlier and later years to fill out the class (there's about 30 real players, so less than some of the previous classes). I'm sure it's not perfect, but should be very usable and enjoyable!
