I'm already using your mix & match pack for female refs, but somehow I was hoping someone of the modders could make a proper CF's for them!

I would love it if someone did this too; I only posted my CFs because there is literally nothing out there, lol. I know Shuajota's got some stuff in the works re: refs, but I don't know if he is doing female refs. FWIW someone did make a legit CF for Ashley Moyer-Gleich for 2K14, but it can't be edited due to that encrypting method/software people use for 2K14 mods (can't remember the name offhand). Just FYI in case you know if a way to access the contents of the archive file, as in principle the face could be transferred to the newer format: https://nba2khub.net/post/g75ds

doctahtobogganMD wrote:Great stuff, this reminded me to add Mark Cuban that i had extracted from 2k20 to the downloads page if anyone is also interested in having his actual cyberface in game: Mark Cuban Face

Thanks for sharing this!!! One of my big hang-ups with MyGM is that I can't bear the fake owners, so I usually stick to MyLeague where it's less prominent (and where custom portraits can solve that problem), but it's awesome to have Cuban as a real owner for a MyGM Mavs playthrough (at least we don't have to go digging too much for the Hornets owner, lol). By the way, do you have any additional non-player CFs like this that were subsequently removed from the game? Like Spike Lee? And was there ever a David Stern? Thanks again. (P.S. Your Barkley CF is absolutely incredible!)

New mod:

NBA 2K22 Mamba Forever Edition Theme

This mod re-themes 2K22 to have the visual character of the NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition. Additionally, there are general, non-Kobe menu enhancements that are included simply because they look better IMO than the default 2K22 theme while also going well together with the Mamba Forever visuals. Note that there are a few more minor things I'd like to tweak, but I don't know how yet. If I learn how and have time I'll post a Version 2 at some point, but this first version is 95% of the way there.

PREVIEW:
Preview.jpg

INSTALLATION GUIDE:

To offer more user choice, I've split the install into 3 folders: (1) the general Mamba Forever splash screen and background elements, (2) the replacement of the default 2K player edit background with the general Mamba Forever background (I wanted this to be separate and easy to skip over since many of you already have custom Edit Player backgrounds that you like and want to keep, like Psamyoull's Next Gen background), and (3) the menu enhancements, since they're not Kobe-themed, and some may prefer the default. To install...

STEP 1: Within the folder of the stuff you want to install, drag any loose files into your Mods folder.
STEP 2: For the files in subfolders named like "Drag files into gooeyfrontendIFF", you need to already have the corresponding *.iff file (like gooeyfrontend.iff) in your Mods folder, and you need to open that file and drag the loose files from my subfolder into that *.iff file, clicking 'Yes' to overwrite any like-named existing files in there already.

Credits:
  • Psamyoull - as the creator of the custom Edit Player BG template and as co-creator of FHSH, from which the static general BG template was extracted
  • FHSH crew - whoever's mod knowledge (i.e., whoever in addition to Psamyoull) led to being able to assign a general BG
  • Sonansu - for extracting the static general BG template from FHSH
  • Ajo (?) - for most of the menu enhancements (via his Stephen Curry theme), which I lightly tweaked and added to; it's unclear to me if Ajo created them, or if someone else created them and he simply included them in his theme; if the latter, then apologies for not being able to name you, Mr./Ms. Creator, but thank you
  • ...plus the random people out there who uploaded high-res Mamba Forever graphics, available via Google Image Search.

Thanks for the guide, definetly it´s very useful. I´ll give it a try later when I get back with my PCBasket roster.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the regular game," but the owner/GM portraits (I haven't released any coaches yet) should work fine in combination with anything. It's the same idea as with cyberfaces; the portraits will attach to whichever staff member has the portrait ID in the filename. You can rename the files or re-assign portrait ID numbers in 2K Tools any way that you like (just like you can change cyberface ID numbers freely, like when making a draft class), but by default I've assigned the portrait IDs to align with the staff members assigned on each team in the Official 2K Roster. So if you drag and drop all of the portrait IFF files into your Mods folder, then start the game and load up the Official 2K Roster, then on each staff page the CFO's portrait will be the real-life owner of the team and the Assistant GM's portrait will be the real-life GM of the team. Their names will be whatever fake default name is in the roster, but you can rename them if you're not already using a roster that has accurate staff names / ratings.

Thanks for the explanation. What I meant was if I started a regular play now game, would I see the real life GM's and owners. You said I have to change the ID's in 2K tools correct?

No, as far as I know the only staff members who appear in the actual game/arena environment are the Coach and Asst. Coach. Doesn't matter if the other staff are default or custom/modded; they're just not programmed by 2K to appear courtside. So for a Play Now game, team staff is completely irrelevant except for Coach and Asst. Coach.

In MyLeague, you can see the non-coaching staff, but only on each team's Staff page, where they appear either as a portrait (if you're using portrait mods like mine) or a little cyberface, if there is no portrait. What roster makers have often done (particularly on consoles where there is no way to add a custom portrait) is just set the staff member to whatever generic cyberface looks the most like their real-life selves, but that's (1) tedious and (2) less accurate / immersive, since obviously the generic cyberfaces are not going to look as correct as an actual photo, not to mention that by default in-game there are no generic female cyberfaces to choose from. That said, with my portraits installed, if you select the staff member that has a Jeanie Buss portrait, for instance, and open the Edit Staff screen, the cyberface will be whatever the default was (some random dude), but I don't think most people care what the staff member looks like only on that screen, particularly when it's easier to edit staff members in 2K Tools anyway.

MyGM is the mode where the cyberfaces assigned to staff members (and the real Owner staff slot, as opposed to the CFO) actually appear in a meaningful part of the game (i.e., when you chit-chat with them), so my portraits may be useful to have when playing MyGM, but for a realistic experience you'll wanna have your team's Owner with as accurate of a cyberface as possible (which is why it's so helpful that doctahtoboggan shared that Mark Cuban) and possibly your GM too, if you want to play as the real-life GM rather than putting yourself in the GM's shoes with your own personal facescan or CAP. For MyGM, you'd also have to re-assign the portraits from Asst. GM to GM and from CFO to Owner, though I don't know if the Owner slot portraits actually appear anywhere even in MyGM. I've never really gotten into MyGM, so my portraits are by default optimized for MyLeague, and for most people re: Owners/GMs, they're all that's really needed in MyLeague, since the cyberfaces don't really matter if you have portraits.

Ok, thanks. One thing though, could you get a better portrait of Cavs owner Dan Gilbert? And are the numbers in front of the names CF ID's ? I have been adding the real names to the faces via 2Ktools.

Sorry for the late reply. Nah, the portraits are what they are. The numbers are the portrait IDs; they correspond to the staff in the default roster, whose names you of course have to change to the people's real names, as you're doing / did.

I'm guessing you're the one who asked me on Discord as well, so I know you've figured it out by now, but for anyone else: Delete everything within the main brackets of any relevant SCNE files (usually labeled as "holiday" within the IFF, be it for a scoreboard, breakboard, whatever). Or you can just blank out the actual graphics, which I think are in gamedata.iff.

I've shared this mod elsewhere but forgot to post it here, so belatedly here you go:

It's just the studio backdrop & desk, not the analysts. See my earlier Warriors pack for other assets (though obviously use the above download's pregame folder).

Dropping a question since since you guys tackled modding the Starting Lineup graphic, or even tried to mod in a such a way that the Starting Lineup Portraits will always be shown every game, instead of just showing Starting lineups in Text. (startinglineupoverlay.iff, etc)

Just FYI I figured this out. Kinda complicated to explain but I'll DM you in case you're still interested. Posting in this thread in case there's demand for a public tutorial / mod. Don't wanna bother otherwise.
