Console commands in NBA Live 2004

Postby Murat on Fri Feb 01, 2019 12:25 am

So I opened the dev console thing in NBA Live 2004 to check what I could do. I wrote down all of them here.

For instance, ren_dornatrans command decides the time lapse of dorna transition. It's in 1/60 of second. I changed it as 1 to give a LED effect to dornas.

Here is a video footage with ren_dornatrans set as 1. I also extended ren_dornaperiod to 800.

Good to have a resource handy here in the Forum! I took a look back at the developer console in a recent Wayback Wednesday: https://www.nba-live.com/ww-dev-console ... e-2003-pc/

Forgot to mention, this article inspired me to check out the variable list and write this down. Thank you Andrew.

Second video, this time with cam_debug set as 1. Here, the camera does not switch to our selected in-game camera after intro when we skip it. It remains the same camera angle the moment we skipped the intro.

r_overlays and r_playerid set as 0. Now this looks like you watch the game from your seat in the arena.

Instead of toying, I'm trying to look for features that could help me enhance the game. That dorna thing will sure be in the stadium update.

That too. It's useful for taking screenshots with certain details removed and you can change some visual effects, but I'm not sure if there's a method of distributing those custom effects, unless they can be saved in one of the .cfg files.

Yep, we add these lines as we add customart thing too. Customart is one of these variables that can be changed.

It's just a matter of adding the string to that .cfg file? Definitely worth looking into, then.

Which command or combination of commands turns off the player's name under the player you are controlling?

I believe that's r_playerid set to 0.

Well the r_playerid 0 works if I type into the console then the name shows right back up on the next play. I put it in xstartup and it doesn’t work at all. Any ideas?

some of the commands work perfectly while some of them has issues like you mentioned. check my 2nd video and that issue occurs.

for instance demo play works well but it always plays the game at the latest home court you used in game.

Dangit I just can't get it to stick! I have an idea maybe I can find where the font and/or "white ink" is being used to create the player name underneath and make it transparent. Also will look at game .executable may have r_playerid function embedded.
