1080p and Windows x64 support for NBA LIVE 2003?

Postby T-MAC-power on Mon Feb 22, 2016 7:41 pm

Hi there,
Being away for a long time from NBA gaming society, i can't forget my most-beloved game, NBA LIVE 2003, that i had been playing on my ancient P4 PC :)

Now, i'm seeking to find 2 answers to my questions.

1) As i have a Windows 7 64-bit notebook with Geforce GTX460M, using 1080p display (15.6"), is there a mod/tweak or patch for newer systems to run this game fine with 1080p resolution under 64-nit Windows 7 combination? Possible?

2) Is there a 2015-2016 player + team + roster update? I looked down corresponding downloads are but couldn't seem to find updates newer than 2013-2014?

This game is the most exhilarating and smooth NBA game i've played ever, and since EA decided to kill LIVE series on PC :(

Thanks in advance!

1. Nope. Also, a Windows update has disabled a required service for games of that vintage, preventing them from running. See this thread for the workaround.
2. No, but there is a 2015 season update in the Downloads section. It's called NBA LIVE 15, and is made by Badger.

Thanks Andrew for the reply. I read the post and it seems there's a bit tough "hassle" to make this old game work on newer systems.

I saw, Gamecube version has almost same quality with PC version based on Youtube videos, and it seems it's more straight-forward choice to play on 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 using Dolphin emulator. Do you also recommend this way to play 2003?

Not really, no. If you want to use any patches, it's not an option at all.

All you need to do is run the batch file that I posted. It'll re-enable the service, and you can easily play NBA Live 2003 and NBA Live 2004 on Windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks Andrew, i'll try. But my main concern is, does this 13 year-old game would suppose to support 1080p resolution natively? Do you have solid info on widescreen resolutions of NBA LIVE 2003? Thanks a lot.

This seems to be an easier fix for live 03 and 04.
1. Open your C drive.
2. Locate your Documents folder and open.
3. In the Documents folder, look for NBA LIVE 2004 and open it.
4. Then look for the cscripts folder and open.
5. right click on hwconfig and open with notepad.
6. You will see this...
r_hardwaresettings.nVideoMode 1
r_hardwaresettings.nScreenWidth 1920
r_hardwaresettings.nScreenHeight 1080
r_hardwaresettings.nScreenBPP 32
r_hardwaresettings.bGammaSupport 1
r_hardwaresettings.fGammaValue 0.5000
r_hardwaresettings.nTextureFilterType 2
r_hardwaresettings.bVSync 0
r_hardwaresettings.bTripleBuffer 0

CHANGE ONLY THE SCREEN WIDTH TO 1920 OR 3840(IF YOUR TV AND VIDEO CARD CAN HANDLE)
AND SCREEN HEIGHT TO 1080(2K) OR 2160(4K)

7. upper left hand corner click file and save from the drop down menu.
8. close file, load game and play.

NOTE: Title screens and all other screens will stay the same. Once you start the actual game, it will be full screen.
I tested this on 1920x1080(2K), but not yet on 3840x2160(4K)

Hopefully this works for you and helps!
