Hey, buddy I was just thinking of you. I have been spending more time on the RH site and I downloaded the starter kit because I was wanting to update the game but it seemed a bit too complicated for me. If there's anything I can do to help with your workload, I'd be down to help out!

If you need input on rosters, ratings, or sourcing portraits or anything else

Appreciate it! I've got about 15 portraits premade outside the ROM (like Nurcic) in anticipation of trades and free agency causing me some roster imbalances, so I'll likely toss out some questions on who'd best be put on a certain team to round them out.

Hacking the game is easier than you think! Start with the easiest stuff first (changing some text, looking up and changing stats, work over to portraits... basically put yourself in the game for your proof in concept). Once that begins to click, think about your wish list for changes, see what might be covered on the tabs of my Excel doc on RHDN, and stick with it. With each success you have, you'll find yourself branching out to try more and more things!

Alrighty... quick update.

I've got a number of quality of life improvements finished, so I'm now keeping an eye on free agency moves and trades and setting up some of the roster change ASM work. That being the case, I set up portraits for the top 3 draft picks.

What suggestions do ya have for attributes for Edwards, Wiseman, and Ball?
1) Speed
2) 3-pointers
3) Dunks
4) Passing
5) Power
6) Steals
7) Blocking
8) Clutch

Hey, glad to see you're still working on this

Here's my take, though I can't say I was too familiar with Edwards and Wiseman until recently

Anthony Edwards

Speed 8
3-pointers 6
Dunks 7
Passing 6
Power 4
Steals 6
Blocking 5
Clutch 6

James Wiseman
Speed 7
3-pointers 2
Dunks 7
Passing 3
Power 7
Steals 5
Blocking 8
Clutch 5

Lamelo Ball
Speed 8
3-pointers 7
Dunks 5
Passing 9
Power 3
Steals 6
Blocking 4
Clutch 7

Thanks! The QoL stuff's mostly done, and I'm testing code for the first run of replacement players.

The roster moves have been interesting. Houston's a real wild card right now, and Detroit seems to be as well, with so many trade rumors around Rose and Griffin. Not knowing their fates, let's assume they stay in Detroit. Who would your #3 be for 2K21? Your #4?

Yeah roster moves are really interesting to me, especially deciding who is included in the game. I feel like teams' starting 3 should have a bit of balance to allow players to choose to play as a big guy or small guy if they want or they can match up against other teams

Detroit has been busy this off-season, signing a bunch of players that probably won't live up to their contracts.

I'd say Blake and Rose stay, so with the big/small combo I'd say you could put the third best player on the team which could arguably be Mason Plumlee. A fast athletic big man could be fun to play with. 4th and 5th players for expanded rosters could be Jerami Grant or rookie Killian Hayes

With OKC moving around so many players, wondering what thoughts are on the top 3 players that likely would end up in a roster update.

Slots are filled up for new players at this point, but I currently have Gilgeous-Alexander, Horford, and Ariza as the base team. But Ariza's likely out indefinitely, so... if I decide to replace Ariza, who might be best to take his place?

I think I've come up with a fun solution, just trollin' the ol' interwebs for chatter from Thunder fans...

Figured I'd give some shout-outs to the mainstays on the NLSC Forum in the game as well, given all the chats we've had the past couple seasons.

Appreciate the shoutout!

At this point, that's not a bad call for OKC.

Any Raptors fans out there? Grizzlies? Pelicans? v2.0 of the game now splits them out and into their own teams.

Wow! That's cool, how did you guys add new teams? Can you explain the "Mattrizzle Player Engine, with sound rips and insertions"

The Mattrizzle Player Engine allowed the Raps, Pels, and Grizzlies to be split out. That's custom code written by Mattrizzle to replace some of the original game's limitations. My buddy and I then ripped some other NBA Jam for Wii and Android sound clips for those teams so they could be played at the Tonight's Match-Up screen. The Mattrizzle Player Engine created spots so that the sounds could just be inserted as .brr files.

Nice! That sounds like a lot of work, but totally worth it when you see the end result. Can't wait to see what else is possible with the game in the future!

That really does sound awesome, way beyond the usual re-skin of modding. Great work!

Personally, I'm a fan of the portrait (fitting that beard into the frame isn't the easiest...), and he hasn't gone anywhere yet. Might be a roster change for a 2K22, but I can't say I have any further updates planned for this one.

I'll have to double-check that, but I think I have version 2 from January. I wasn't aware that you guys were able to allow 30 opponents! Or maybe I had checked it out really quickly and forgot you guys did that. Either way, amazing work by everyone involved
