I still think that EA has a great opportunity to release something this year, given the generally outraged to lukewarm reception to NBA 2K20. The door is still open for an alternative, and it's getting to the point where gamers who have always been 2K diehards or swore off NBA Live after all its troubles are really pulling for the series to succeed again. I'm certainly someone who believes we need at least two strong alternatives on the market, because having one dominant brand hasn't been for the best.
However, as the weeks pass and we hear nothing, I have a feeling any release is going to be quietly pushed back until 2020, probably as a launch title for the next generation. On one hand that's another fresh start, but it also risks letting the NBA Live brand slip further from people's minds, and further erode hope and trust. On top of that, if it is a late release, it's going to have to impress because 2K's missteps have gamers clamouring for an alternative and it'll be a letdown if that alternative just isn't viable for most people.
Anyway, what's your take? I'm not feeling that confident right now, but I wouldn't rule it out as long as it's in the financial report.
