NBA 2K12 Developer Insight #13 – Online Association

The newest Developer Insight for NBA 2K12 has been released and it focuses on the new Online Association.

To combat the issues of online leagues from last year, there is a new flex schedule system in place which simulates the game time 3 days for every 1 real life day.  You have the option to play against the CPU if your opponent doesn’t show up for their game, and if neither of you play, the game gets simulated instead of hanging up the entire Association for everyone.  There are trade protests, a new off-season period, and different sizes and lengths of seasons you can customize.

For all the information, check out the Insight.  Feel free to comment or discuss in the Forum.  And if you want to participate in an NLSC Online Association, claim your team in this Forum Thread.

It’s sounding more and more like they didn’t make too many changes to the offline Association, but hopefully there was at least some tinkering under the hood. As for Online Association, sounds solid with the range of options and way it will be implemented. The flex schedule is definitely a good idea, that’s the area an online league or Association is liable to fall apart so those simulation options are vital. I’ll be giving it a shot.

Sucks there was no insight for offline Association. It looks like they’ve probably left that untouched & put all their efforts to online. I can understand why since it’ll make them look good. I can also understand from the perspective that once CBA is signed, Association might be unplayable due to the potential major differences in the game & real life.

Could be. I guess My Player is becoming the more popular mode too, it’s way out in front in our current poll.
