NBA 2K17 News Round-Up: National Teams, Italian Cover, More

In the wake of the developer blog on MyGM and MyLEAGUE, we have some more NBA 2K17 news this week. Fox Sports has confirmed that the Australian Boomers will be in this year’s game, in the process confirming the presence of national teams in general. The inclusion of national teams was heavily rumoured after gamers noticed an image of Paul George wearing a Team USA jersey in the background of his cover, and it would appear that the speculation was well-founded.

Team USA is obviously a lock to be included, but as of this time, no other national teams have been officially confirmed. However, GameStop UK seems to have leaked a couple of as yet unannounced pre-order bonuses, namely the 1992 Dream Team, and a Paul George USA Basketball jersey. Since PeacemanNOT first pointed this out in the Forum, it appears as though the leaked info has since been removed from the listing. It remains to be seen whether the entire Dream Team will be included, as was the case in NBA 2K13. With the exception of NBA 2K13, Charles Barkley in particular is a notorious holdout when it comes to basketball video games.

Speaking of international teams and players, Danilo Gallinari revealed that he will appear on the Italian NBA 2K17 cover, Tweeting out an image of the cover art. You can also check out the cover artwork below. As of writing, no other international covers have been confirmed.

With any luck, we’ll be getting a more consistent stream of news and previews leading up to NBA 2K17’s release in September. In the meantime, what are your thoughts on the latest tidbits?
