NBA 2K

NBA 2K (collectively known as the NBA 2K series and often shortened to simply 2K) is a series of NBA video games and is the main rival of the NBA Live series. It was initially exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast but has since been released for a wide range of platforms including the GameCube, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360 and beginning with NBA 2K9, PC. NBA 2K games are developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports, a label created by Take-Two.

Beginning with NBA 2K9, the NBA 2K series has outsold NBA Live every year, and has been considered the premiere brand of simulation basketball games for some time, receiving much acclaim from critics and basketball gamers alike.

Games in the series

Twenty-one games have been released under the NBA 2K branding, though the series traces its lineage back to SEGA Sports' NBA Action 98 (also known as NBA Fastbreak '98), similar to NBA Live's connection to the NBA Playoffs series. A couple of spin-off games and DLC have also been released.
