NCAA Basketball (formerly titled NCAA March Madness) is a series of college basketball games developed by EA Sports. The series was discontinued on February 10th 2010. EA Sports announced plans for a new college basketball game in June 2025, but later rescinded their proposal after Take-Two struck deals with various schools to appear in NBA 2K and a potential revival of the College Hoops series.

As with other video games based on college sports, it could not feature real player names or likenesses per NCAA rules, hence players were instead known by their jersey numbers. The games did however allow users to rename players as desired and similar to the NBA Live games, several common surnames were available in the game's audio files.

Attempted Revival[edit]

On June 30th 2025, the official EA Sports account on X made a post stating "Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back." with the hashtags #CBB and #ItsInTheGame, announcing the return of their college basketball series.

However, by September 2025, EA rescinded their proposal and cancelled plans to revive their college basketball series. EA had sought an exclusive deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company, which prompted Take-Two to strike deals with various schools to appear in NBA 2K and a potential revival of their College Hoops series. Though the move wouldn't have prevented EA from developing their own game, they opted not to proceed without an exclusive license.
