Slam Dunk School
Slam Dunk School is a practice mode first implemented in NBA Live 2005 to allow users to practice combinations and timing for the new Slam Dunk Contest in All-Star Weekend. Unlike the regular Practice Mode, Slam Dunk School features an on-screen guide that provides the user with feedback on their dunk attempt (eg "held trick button too long", "did not press trick button early enough", etc). Slam Dunk School is divided into three areas: Beginner Practice, Alley-Oop Practice and Advanced Practice.
Beginner Practice[edit]
This tutorial will provide the user with notes that will walk them through the basics of the Slam Dunk Contest, such as performing gathers and executing different tricks. It can be used to master basic timing as well as the distances when performing a gather, as indicated by a shaded area.
Alley-Oop Practice[edit]
This tutorial is focused on teaching the user to effectively throw lob passes in the Slam Dunk Contest as well as the timing required to perform a gather, catch the lob and perform a trick. A shaded area is once again used to indicate the ideal distance.
Advanced Practice[edit]
This is a free-for-all practice session without any on-screen guides or the shaded area in which the user can practice lobs and combinations.
