Ultimate Base Roster Mods, Additions, and Retro Seasons

HAWK23‘s Ultimate Base Roster has been huge for the PC NBA 2K12 community and sure enough, the mod for NBA 2K12 is starting to see mods that work with and fit into it. Today, I released a roster with the Retro Teams Removed from the mod to allow better compatibility with My Player and Association modes. It also contains summer league rosters which take the current rosters and have the games played in similar venues to the summer league games going on right now.

sevin0seven has been releasing Expansion Teams for the UBR roster itself, ranging from ’09-’10 Cavs, ’00-’01 Blazers, ’68-’69 Celtics, and even ‘Playground Legends’ with players like Len Bias and Earl “The Goat” Manigault. This was done through a lone “expansion slot” HAWK23 left in the UBR roster for exported teams.

Finally, if hundreds of retro teams spanning seven decades of NBA history isn’t focused enough for you, HAWK23Inbarrayhoops1, and nuhmete have released full classic rosters for the ’92-’93, ’97-’98’98-’99, and ’06-’07 NBA seasons, respectively.

NBA 2K11 Online Servers Shutting Down July 31st

Ronnie has informed the remaining NBA 2K11 community that the online servers will be shut down at the end of the month on July 31st.

As outlined in the NBA 2K11 manual, online multiplayer support for NBA 2K11 was scheduled to be turned off in November 2011, but as announced on 11/01/2011, 2K Sports decided to leave servers for NBA 2K11 on until April 2012. The servers have stayed on up through this date but on July 31st, 2012 at midnight EST, they will be discontinued.

You can discuss the shut down in the comments below and in this Forum thread, and be sure to check out the current update mods for NBA 2K11 in the Releases Section.

Interview with NBA Live 13 Developer Scott O’Gallagher (Operation Sports)

The guys over at Operation Sports have posted an interview with Scott O’Gallagher, who recently joined the NBA Live 13 Development Team at EA Tiburon. The interview doesn’t provide any new information on the game itself but offers a good opportunity to get to know Scott, a former professional basketball player and a member of the NBA Live Advisory Council before accepting his current role at EA Sports.

Check it out here, follow Scott here on Twitter and join in the discussion in the NBA Live 13 section of the NLSC Forum! Stay tuned for more information on NBA Live 13, which should be coming very soon.

NBA Stats Tracker is now fully compatible with NBA 2K12

Excuse the shameless plugging, and let me clear my throat. -coughs- Ahem. With that out of the way let me go in bold, saying…

NBA Stats Tracker is finally fully compatible with any NBA 2K12 save!

Some of you may be saying, “er… okay. And? Wait, what the hell is NBA Stats Tracker anyway?” Good question. NBA Stats Tracker is a tool (made by me, Leftos), that started off as a workaround for the Team Stats bug in NBA 2K12. Team Stats would register incorrectly after each game you played in Association/Season/My Player, which would ruin the immersion for those paying attention to the team stats table in NBA.COM, or in the stat overlays in-game. However, due to my limited reverse engineering knowledge and experience (it’s not like Visual Concepts is going to give us maps around its save files anytime soon), the tool required work to get it to work with any save; a 20-step tutorial you had to get out of the way before your first game in order to use the tool. I was disappointed, and gave up.

But Vl@d Zola Jr. came to help, and the latest version of REditor implemented Team Stats, so now by using these 2 tools together, you can correct your team stats! Yay…? Click on Read More to find out what’s exciting about all this.

NBA 2K13 Commercial Shoot Recap, More News Coming Soon

Chris “LD2k” Manning is back with this week’s 2K Sports Community Update over on Tumblr. There still isn’t much in the way of new info, with the NBA 2K13 portion of the update mostly just offering a recap of the commercial shoot in Las Vegas earlier in the week. For anyone who’d like to skip straight to the interviews or behind the scenes footage in the replay of the live stream, Chris has provided the times you need to jump to. Those clips will also be made available on 2K Sports’ official YouTube channel in the near future.

More information on the game itself should be right around the corner, as Chris notes that we “aren’t too far off from a glimpse of NBA 2K13” and that “the time is almost here”. We’ll be sure to cover all the news and info as it comes out but in the meantime, you can join in the latest NBA 2K13 discussion right here in the NLSC Forum.

General File Additions

NLSC Logo - Stitching

If you’re creating face patches for NBA Live 08 and NBA Live 07, you’ll probably want to pick up today’s file addition, which is a more up to date version (v1.1d) of FSHLine. This is not a recent release but if you’ve been encountering any issues with the older version (1.0a) that’s previously been made available in our Downloads section, give this one a try.

v1.0a of FSHLine is also still available here. For those who are unaware, the most common use for FSHLine is adding alpha layers to faces so that they do not appear shiny when lighting is enabled. For more information on that process, please see this tutorial in our Wiki.
