Quick NBA 2K14 Next Gen Gameplay Video (GameSpot)

GameSpot have posted a brief clip of raw gameplay footage taken from the next gen version of NBA 2K14, accompanied by some quick impressions based on a couple of minutes of hands-on time with the game at yesterday’s press event. The graphics and some of the animations seen in the video don’t quite live up to the OMG Trailer, but improvements are still noticeable.

Perhaps a little more troubling is the opinion of the gameplay that is expressed in the video, specifically the suggestion that the game didn’t feel remarkably different to current gen despite the new engine. However, a certain amount of optimism was also expressed, along with an acknowledgement that those impressions were formed after a very limited amount of time playing the game. I would personally suggest that there’s plenty more to learn, see and experience for ourselves in terms of how the game plays and feels.

In any case, you can watch the clip below or check it out here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. As always, feel free to add your thoughts in the comments below, as well as in this thread. Thanks to athozoan for the heads up in the Forum.

Huge Amount of Information on NBA 2K14 Next Gen

I honestly don’t know where to begin. There is a recap thread of all the tweets I followed from the press reveal right here. I will attempt to summarize below.

NBA 2K14 next gen is not considered a port, but a new engine called Eco Motion. Minute details like dirt and scuff on the rims, fingerprints on courtside monitors and leg tattoos are in the game. Animations change based on surroundings, no two landings from jumpers are the same, and variable wingspans affect gameplay. NBA Today features video highlights from real life games. There is new presentation, new arenas and lighting is detailed down to reflections and Kelvin units. Coaches have individual AI to affect strategies and Emotion Plus will affect gameplay and players. Players themselves will be unique, with Kobe Bryant being an Alpha Dog, fierce and demanding the ball. High and Low emotions are accounted for. MyTEAM has been confirmed for Next Gen.

MyPLAYERs are cyberface quality and we can even play as a scanned/mapped Da_Czar. MyPLAYERs are used for MyGM, which replaces Association mode. You have to manage players through discussions and can get fired for lack of moral/chemistry. You can even control hot dog prices; Leftos is very proud of the mode.

MyCAREER is cinematic and seems kind of linear and storydriven based. You can make decisions, you have a rival for the rookie showcase and characters are involved as well including buddies and agents. Over 40 hours are required to be put into the mode for the first year alone and evidently it has GTA quality voice acting.

Park was also mentioned, which sounds like my personal 2K wet dream: an “open field of courts” with up to 100 other MyPLAYERs playing against each other. It’s an online mode where users can hang out.

This has got to be the tip of the iceberg. We will do our best to keep you updated, but be sure to check the NBA 2K14 forums for additional details…wow.

Blacktop Revitalization for NBA 2K14 PC – 64 Courts

To wrap up my pre-RED MC modding for NBA 2K14, I have released the foundations for the annual Blacktop Revitalization mod for NBA 2K14 PC. Since we are limited to a single street court for Blacktop Mode this year, I have decided to take advantage of this and create specific rosters for each individual court I have made in the past and will make in the future. Coupled with casual Street Gear by bigh0rt, this provides a very unique and customizable experience for Blacktop Mode.

To start off, you must download bigh0rt’s uniforms here, then you can pick and choose which courts you want in the new Blacktop Courts & Mods section of the NLSC Downloads database. If you have previously installed my Midnight Ballers mods, I’ve created a Starter Pack with only uniforms and rosters for all of those courts, preventing the need for you to redownload everything.

I hope you enjoy it, please check out the video mod review below for more information!

NBA Live 14 Developer Blog: Signature Styles & Dribbling Controls

NBA Live 14 gameplay designer Scott O’Gallagher has posted a blog over on the official website, detailing signature styles and dribbling controls in this year’s game. Scott talks about getting the balance right between the ballhandler and the defensive player, reiterating their focus on authenticity and recreating the subtleties of one-on-one situations while also allowing the user to be creative in their dribbling.

The blog also features three short clips demonstrating the different levels of dribbling moves. Basic moves are executed with quick flicks and holds of the right analog stick, more advanced moves can be performed by chaining moves together and signature moves are performed by holding a modifier and flicking the right stick in one of six directions, with each direction performing a different signature move.

Check out the blog for the full rundown and feel free to add your thoughts in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the NBA Live 14 section of the NLSC Forum.

NBA Rewind in NBA Live 14, More Ultimate Team Details

Gamestop’s pre-order listing for NBA Live 14 has revealed some more information on a couple of the game’s modes. As originally reported by Pastapadre, it appears as though NBA Rewind will be making a return in this year’s game, allowing users to replay memorable games with accurate lineups and data. The ability to play along with your favourite team’s schedule with game-specific lineups and player data is also noted, suggesting that Dynamic Season will be returning in some form as well.

The Gamestop listing also mentions a couple of details on Ultimate Team, noting that NBA legends will be obtainable in the mode. It also mentions Fantasy Showdown challenges which will allow users to earn coins, in turn allowing new players, uniforms and other content to be purchased. What are your thoughts on these details? October 18th Official Roster for NBA 2K14

A new official roster update for NBA 2K14 has come through, accurate as of October 18th, 2013. It appears as though coaching profiles have been corrected in this update, after being reset in the first roster update that corrected the problem with generated rookie ratings.

The update should come through automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet. PC users may also choose to make use of this offline update pack, which contains a copy of the latest roster and online data files.
