Da Czar’s NBA 2K12 Play of the Day & Patch Thoughts

Da Czar is back with a new Play of the Day video for NBA 2K12. This time Czar takes a look at a play for the New York Knicks, the NYC Base Quick 5 Offscreen. Czar has also posted his thoughts on patch v1.04, which was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of NBA 2K12 earlier this week. Don’t forget that you can share your impressions of the patch here in the NLSC Forum.

You can watch both videos below or here on Czar’s YouTube channel. Fifth Official NBA 2K12 Roster Update Released

2K Sports has made it five roster updates for NBA 2K12 in five days, with a new update available to download right now. The latest update should include all transactions to date including the Bulls’ signing of Richard Hamilton, as well as all first round draft picks that have signed their NBA contracts.

See below for a full list of the transactions and rookie additions included in the latest update. Once again, the update should be downloaded automatically so long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation is connected to the Internet, however you will need to use the Reset Roster function under the Options menu to load the new rosters. As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve had to reset the rosters twice to load the update and I highly recommend saving the rosters after they’ve been loaded.

NBA Today Will Have 66 Game Season In NBA 2K12

Ronnie 2K has posted a couple of Tweets here and here answering questions about the 66 game schedule being patched into NBA 2K12. Ronnie has confirmed that NBA Today will reflect the lockout shortened 66 game schedule, while mentioning that it is impossible to implement for My Player, Association and Online Association. NBA Today games are currently following the original 2011/2012 season schedule.

For what it’s worth, EA Sports patched the abbreviated 50 game schedule for the lockout shortened 1998/1999 season into NBA Live 99’s Season Mode, which led to speculation that 2K Sports might be able to do the same with NBA 2K12. It is understandable that they cannot, however; beyond any technical limitations there’s also the tricky situation with multiseason play in Association and My Player, which would need to revert to 82 games from year two onwards. Selecting the 50 game schedule in NBA Live 99’s basic multiseason mode – the precursor of Franchise and Dynasty Mode – locked the user to playing 50 games for each of the ten years. Such a situation would likely be unappealing to most NBA 2K12 players, ultimately detracting from the realism in the long run.

Fourth Official NBA 2K12 Roster Update Released

The official roster updates for NBA 2K12 continue to come daily in the lead up to the 2011/2012 season, which is set to tip off just a little over a week away on Christmas Day. The latest update includes the blockbuster trade that sent Chris Paul to the Clippers and a few more rookies, though Richard Hamilton is still a free agent rather than being on the Bulls’ roster. Gilbert Arenas is back in the free agent pool after appearing on the Magic’s roster in the last update.

Please see below for an updated list of transactions and included rookies through the latest update. Remember that you may have to use the Reset Roster function under the Options menu to access the updated rosters. In my experience, I’ve usually had to reset the rosters twice to get the new rosters to show up. I would also recommend saving the new rosters once they’ve loaded.

NBA 2K12 Patch v1.04 Out Now For Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 version of NBA 2K12 has now received the official patch (v1.04), which corrects various issues with gameplay, online modes, My Player and Association. You will be prompted to download the update automatically as long as your Xbox 360 is connected to the Internet, so as with the official roster updates there’s no need to go looking for it. The PlayStation 3 version of NBA 2K12 received the patch yesterday and the iOS version has also been updated, however there is unfortunately still no ETA on the PC patch.

You can check out a laundry list of fixes included in the official patch here and share your impressions of the patch here in the NLSC Forum.

Third Official NBA 2K12 Roster Update Released

The third official roster update for NBA 2K12 has now been released. It includes the latest transactions such as Vince Carter signing with the Mavericks and the Mavericks’ trade of Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer to the Nuggets, while also adding more rookies including Enes Kanter, Jan Vesely and the Morris twins for a total of 20 rookies added to the roster so far.

See below for an updated list of the transactions that have been included as of the third roster update. Remember that the rosters are downloaded automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet, so you don’t need to go looking for them. However, you may have to use the Reset Rosters function under the Options menu to initially load them and saving the rosters afterwards is recommended. If you’re playing the PC version, be sure to grab this fix to resolve the issue with incorrect arm textures for the rookies.

NBA 2K12 Patch v1.04 Out Now For PlayStation 3

The big patch (v1.04) for the PlayStation 3 version of NBA 2K12 is now available. As long as your PS3 is connected to the Internet, you will be prompted to download the patch automatically when you start the game. According to this Tweet from Ronnie 2K, the Xbox 360 patch is expected to be available within the next 12 hours, while a third roster update that will bring the total number of rookies to 20 is expected to go live within 48 hours.

You can check out a list of the changes made by the new patch here. As I mentioned in the previous bulletin, there is currently no ETA on the PC patch but as soon as 2K Sports releases any info we will be sure to post it.

NBA 2K12 PC – Rookie Arm Fix

As some of you may have noticed with the new roster updates coming out, the rookies have accurate faces but black arms. Ronnie has addressed this issue stating that the PC version will need to be patched first before the issue is officially resolved.  Luckily if you have this issue, you are playing the only version of the game that can be fixed unofficially.

Back in October I released a Rookie Arm Fix which updates each rookie’s file with proper arm colors. While it does not add any tattoos to the rookies, it is a quick one-download fix. I’m sure as the cyberface patchers continue to do their thing in the Releases Forum and Downloads Database some accurate updates will come out, but it’s better than waiting for the official PC patch.

NBA 2K12 Patch v1.04 Coming Tomorrow (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3)

2K Sports have announced that the big patch (v1.04) will be released tomorrow for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of NBA 2K12, while a patch has already been released for NBA 2K12 iOS. The patch will contain fixes for several issues with online play, gameplay, My Player and Association including problematic trade logic, quirks with block and steal attempts, the problem of unlocked NBA’s Greatest teams becoming locked again after exiting another game mode and much more.

See below for a complete list of issues that will be addressed by the patch, as well as a list of the updates included in the iOS patch. Unfortunately there is no ETA on the patch for NBA 2K12 PC at this time but judging by last year’s release, I’d once again speculate that we could be waiting until sometime in January or even February for the PC patch to arrive. As soon as any further details are made available, we will be sure to post them.

Second Official NBA 2K12 Roster Update Released

The second official roster update for NBA 2K12 is now available. Once again, the update should be downloaded automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet, however you may need to use the Reset Rosters function in the Options menu to access the new rosters. I would also recommend saving them afterwards.

The second update contains a few more transactions that have occurred in the past couple of days as Lamar Odom is now with the Mavericks, David West is with the Pacers and Chauncey Billups is with the Clippers. The latest rookies to have signed contracts have also been added including Kemba Walker, Derrick Williams, Jimmer Fredette and Brandon Knight. It does seem that some rookies have issues with their arm textures but if you’re playing on PC, you can download this update from JaoSming to fix the problem.

First Official NBA 2K12 Roster Update Released

The first official roster update for NBA 2K12 has now been released, following hints last week that the update was right around the corner. The roster is not completely up to date as certain deals were not made official by the time the update was finalised but a few rookies that have signed contracts and the earliest offseason transactions have been included. Ron Artest has also been changed to Metta World Peace, though it seems the game only includes appropriate PA audio for his name change as the commentators still refer to him as Artest or just “Number 15”.

You should receive the update as long as you have an active Internet connection on your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, however you may need to select Reset Rosters from the Options menu to access the new rosters. Another update is expected to be out within the next 48 hours, in the meantime you can check out a full list of changes in the first update below.
