NLSC Podcast – Episode #25

This week’s episode of the NLSC Podcast begins with a duo and ends with a trio as Leftos makes a triumphant return following his absence last week, joining Ben and I as we discuss the latest NBA and video game news. The three of us talk about a multitude of topics in “Silver” Episode #25, including:

  • Ben and I open with a very brief update on the NCAA tournament and a roundup of community news.
  • Moving straight into this week’s NBA discussion, we talk about the Lakers’ fortunes and the latest gem from Metta World Peace.
  • The Heat continue to win even with their stars sitting out a few games, setting a franchise record for wins. We also touch on some other news and notes from around the league.
  • A couple of college recruits claim they could beat Michael Jordan one-on-one, in his prime. We’re not so sure about that.
  • Jay-Z is selling his shares in the Brooklyn Nets and looking to become an agent. We speculate on how that might turn out.
  • Leftos joins the show, teases us with hints of stories to come and gives his thoughts on some of the topics discussed so far, as well as a couple from last week.
  • The PC is dying…or is it? We talk about recent OEM sales figures and what it might mean for PC gaming.
  • As has become the norm, we finish up with some next gen console news, including a follow-up on last week’s controversy.

Click Play to listen to the show!

This week’s episode was recorded on Thursday and is up later than originally intended, hence why we don’t mention a couple of news items such as Kobe Bryant’s season ending injury. That’s something we’ll no doubt talk about on next week’s episode but in the meantime we hope you enjoy this week’s show and invite you to give us your feedback and thoughts on everything we discussed in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the Forum.

April 12th Official Roster for NBA 2K13 Out Now

A new official roster update has come through for NBA 2K13, containing lineups that have been updated through April 12th, 2013. The latest roster is primarily a lineup and injury update, though a couple of injured players are still active while some players who have returned from injury have not had their injured status cleared. Kevin Love is the only player whose ratings have been changed in the new roster, with a reduction to his Durability rating dropping him to an 88 overall.

The new rosters will come through automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or Wii U is connected to the Internet. If you’re playing on PC and would like to update your game manually, be sure to grab our offline update pack which contains the latest roster and online data files.

The Friday Five: 5 Ways the NBA Was More Enjoyable in the 90s

Welcome to another Friday here at the NLSC and a new edition of The Friday Five! For the uninitiated, The Friday Five is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, presented as either a list of five items or a Top 5 countdown.

This week, I’m getting nostalgic and playing the cranky “Things were better in my day!” card as I take a look at five ways the NBA was more enjoyable in the 90s. Now, that’s not to say that I don’t enjoy the NBA today because I absolutely do, but these are five things that I miss or feel were done better during the era I grew up watching. Since I’m aiming to compile a list that I feel most fans from that era can agree with, I’ll try to get through the Five without listing “The Chicago Bulls winning championship after championship”. No guarantees.
