First NBA 2K13 Commercial: NBA 2K12 Accolades

For those who may have missed it, the first commercial for NBA 2K13 was shown prior to Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder. The commercial doesn’t offer us a glimpse of this year’s game at all, instead touting NBA 2K12’s accolades and featuring comments from Kobe Bryant, Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose.

Check out the commercial below, or watch it here over on our YouTube channel if you can’t see the embedded video. Be sure to subscribe to us while you’re there as we’ll be posting videos throughout this year’s “preview season”. Add your thoughts in the comments below as well as in the NBA 2K13 section of the Forum.

New Official Roster for NBA 2K12 (NBA Finals Update)

A new official roster for NBA 2K12 has gone live today, containing lineups updated for the 2012 NBA Finals. The update will come through automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet and your game is up to date with the latest official patch. To access the new rosters after they’ve been downloaded, use the Reset Roster function under the Options menu.

If you’re playing the PC version and would like to update your game manually for whatever reason, I’ve updated this pack which includes copies of the latest roster and online data files.

NBA 2K12 Customization & Modding Video Tutorials

In addition to the picture tutorials we have in the NBA 2K12 Tutorials section, I recorded and uploaded 15 different NBA 2K12 video tutorials to give better instruction on how to customize and modify NBA 2K12 on the PC. While most of these tutorials may work for all of the PC NBA 2K games, I tried to cover most of the frequently asked questions in the NBA 2K12 forums. I start off by showing my personal setup and warning to backup your original files, then I show how to use features in six different tools to modify textures, 3D models, and rosters.

You can check out all of the videos on my YouTube Channel, or in this Forum thread where I am also taking requests for future video tutorials. If you want to use the NLSC Wallpaper shown in the videos, we have that available in our Downloads Database. And remember, if you create something, share it with the community by creating a thread in the NBA 2K12 Releases & Previews Forum!

Opening tip: NBA Live 13 vs. NBA 2K13 (Game Hunters)

USAToday.com’s Brett Molina has posted a Game Hunters feature with impressions of NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13, taken from their demonstrations at E3 2012. The preview notably offers a more positive take on the animations in NBA Live 13 compared to some of the other reports coming out of E3, describing them as being “more natural”. It also praises the detail of player faces and provides a rundown of what we’ve been told about the game so far.

On the NBA 2K13 side of things, Molina describes the game as “looking as sharp as previous versions” and “smooth, just like its predecessors”. The preview also notes the developers’ commitment to improving the defensive game and the much talked about Guitar Hero-like controls in the new dunk contest.

Which game are you looking at getting, or will you be getting both? Or, will you be skipping this year entirely? Have your say in the comments section below and don’t forget to keep it locked to the NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13 sections of the NLSC Forum for the latest discussion.

NBA Live 13 Preview (Worthplaying)

Continuing our round-up of NBA Live 13 previews coming out of E3 2012, Worthplaying have posted their rundown of this year’s game which you can check out here. The article doesn’t provide any impressions of the build that was on display, but does give an overview of the key points that have been announced at this time such as ANT technology, changes to post play, the renewed deal with Synergy Sports and teams adapting their playcalling to the user’s strategy.

As always, we invite you to post your thoughts in the comments below and join in the latest discussion in the NBA Live 13 section of our Forum.

ESPN.com: Sky’s the limit for NBA 2K13 (E3 Preview)

ESPN.com’s Jon Robinson has posted a preview of NBA 2K13, based on the demonstration behind closed doors at E3 2012. His first impressions of the game note that it features a quicker pace, more fluid player movement and better collisions. The preview also includes several quotes from NBA 2K13 developers, in particular noting that this year’s controls will be simpler for first-time players, without compromising depth or the simulation experience.

The article concludes with a quick overview of the new All-Star Weekend content that will be available to pre-order customers. Check it out and add your thoughts below in the comments, as well as in the NBA 2K13 section of the NLSC Forum.

NBA Live 13 Official Site Updated: Features, Platforms, Release Date

The official NBA Live 13 website has been updated with a preliminary list of features. The page currently mentions points such as the game being driven by “Basketball IQ” (possibly the evolution of the Dynamic DNA concept), an all-new Playmaker Engine and world-class animation technology under the heading of “Smart Spectacular Gameplay”. Under “Connecting Experiences”, it mentions “all-new online features that will keep players connected and competing all year long”. Finally, features such as the full ESPN broadcast package and photorealistic faces are mentioned under “Authentic NBA Presentation”.

The release date of October 2nd is also confirmed, which isn’t a surprise as the date had already been confirmed for NBA 2K13 and the games have generally hit shelves on the same day. The official site also lists the platforms that the game will be available on and unfortunately it seems we have confirmation of another console only release, as only the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are listed.

What do you make of the latest info? Sound off below in the comments and in the NBA Live 13 section of the NLSC Forum.
