NBA 2K24 Out Now; Mods Folder in PC Version

NBA 2K24 Out Now; Mods Folder in PC Version

NBA 2K24 is out now on all platforms! Whether you prefer to go digital or pick up a physical copy from a store, you can now get your hands on this year’s game. As previously mentioned, I’ve launched the appropriate sections in our Forum, as well as added the necessary categories to our Downloads database. I’ve also added pages for the Next Gen and Current Gen update histories to our Wiki.

Speaking of modding, the PC version of NBA 2K24 has an exciting development! While we still don’t have any official modding tools from 2K, this year’s game includes a mods folder by default. This means we don’t need to use an unofficial plugin to have the game load custom files. This is something we haven’t had since NBA Live provided us with CustomArt, and it should definitely make creating and installing mods much easier!

Indeed, we’ve already got our first NBA 2K24 mod release – shout out to SexCurryBeats! – so stay tuned for a separate bulletin after a few more mods have been uploaded. In the meantime, please feel free to share your impressions of the game in the Forum, as well as get into modding if that’s your scene! Once again, we’d appreciate any help keeping our Wiki resources for NBA 2K24 updated, but as long as you’re enjoying our facilities and content, that’s the main thing. We’ll have plenty of post-release coverage and content for NBA 2K24 in the weeks and months to come, so keep it locked to the NLSC, and have a great time on the virtual hardwood!

NBA 2K24 Modding Sections Launched, Season 1 Details

NBA 2K24 Modding Sections Launched, Season 1 Details

With the imminent release of NBA 2K24, the community is gearing up for another year of modding the PC version! To that end, I’ve created new categories for NBA 2K24 in our Downloads database, as well as the usual Modding and Tutorials & FAQs sections for the game in the Forum.

You can find those Forum sections and Downloads categories, as well as our other key NBA 2K24 resources, at the links below:

As always, we encourage the use of our upload facilities, so that we can preserve mods and tools for years to come. Please note that members of the Contributors group can immediately create topics in our Tutorials & FAQs section; otherwise, feel free to post them in the Modding section, and we’ll move your resource to Tutorials & FAQs as soon as possible. We’d also appreciate any help in maintaining our other community resources, such as the Wiki pages.

Additionally, there’s a new Courtside Report providing an insight into what to expect from Season 1 in MyTEAM and MyCAREER. A trailer has also been released, which you can check out below. Stay tuned for our post-release coverage of NBA 2K24, as well as another great year of releases from our modding community!

NLSC Rewind 2022

NLSC Rewind 2022

Welcome to the NLSC Rewind for 2022! It feels like it was only a few months ago that I was compiling last year’s Rewind, but that’s how it goes these days. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that the last few years have all run together. That’s largely due to the pandemic, but it’s also true what they say: time does seem to go faster the older you are! In any event, it’s been another fun and productive year here at the NLSC.

Our modding community has been busy all year, seamlessly transitioning from NBA 2K22 to NBA 2K23 when the latter was released. A handful of older titles were also kept updated in 2022, including NBA 2K13 and NBA 2K14. Glancing at the various modding sections, it’s clear that even more great work will be coming in 2023, with some great projects brewing for classic games as well. As always, a big thank you to everyone who continues to release work here! I’d like to remind everyone that the upload facilities in our Downloads database remain 100% free and available to all.

With that out of the way, let’s get to the NLSC Rewind for 2022! For those who are unaware, I use the Rewind to share some “editor’s picks” of our original content from the past year. Obviously I encourage you to peruse our entire archives; as with topics in our Forum, old comments sections are still open, and I’m proud of all our work. At the same time, there were some features and episodes of the NLSC Podcast that I’m particularly proud of, and I believe that you’ll really enjoy checking them out if you did miss them the first time around (or perhaps, enjoy them again a second time!). Without any further ado, let’s rewind the year that was 2022 here at the NLSC!

NBA 2K23 Released; Our Facilities, Season 1 Information

NBA 2K23 Released

2K Day is upon us once again, as NBA 2K23 has been released worldwide! With Season 1 in MyCAREER and MyTEAM already underway, 2K has posted a blog with an overview of what to expect.

Now that the PC version of NBA 2K23 has been released, another year of modding has also tipped off. Indeed, looyh has already shared an updated version of NBA 2K_Hook, an essential utility for using mods. As always, I’d like to remind our community about our various modding facilities. We provide free mod hosting to the community via our Downloads database, and you’ll find newly-added sections for NBA 2K23 here. There’s also a Modding section among our NBA 2K23 forums. This board is for all releases, previews, and any other topics related to NBA 2K23 mods. There’s also a section for Tutorials & FAQs, which should be filling up with resources very soon.

Obviously, modding is a huge part of what we do here at the NLSC. However, I encourage everyone to make use of the general discussion board for NBA 2K23 as well. Whether it’s sharing fun moments, offering up your impressions, asking for advice related to gameplay, or anything else about NBA 2K23, by all means join in the conversation!

Dee and I will be sharing our impressions of NBA 2K23 on the next NLSC Podcast, and it’s also my intention to write a full review this year. In addition to covering further news and events, and of course supporting the modding community, we’ll be looking to produce original content based on NBA 2K23. To that end, if you have any suggestions as far as content you’d like to see, please let us know. As always, thank you for joining us here at the NLSC, and here’s hoping that a fun year of basketball gaming awaits us with NBA 2K23!

NBA 2K23 Resources Launched & Other Forum Updates

Devin Booker in NBA 2K23

With the preview season officially underway, we’ve launched our various NBA 2K23 resources. These include our game portal, a board in the NLSC Forum, and a Wiki page. Discussion boards for NBA 2K23 modding and sections for uploading NBA 2K23 mods will be added to the Forum and Downloads database after the game is released.

In addition to inviting you to join in the discussion in the Forum, help keep the Wiki page updated, and eventually add mods to our Downloads database, I’m also seeking some suggestions. Please let us know the kind of content and resources that you’d like to see once NBA 2K23 launches. If there are ways that we can be more informative, entertaining, and generally useful to the basketball gaming community, we’d like to know!

As you may have also noticed, we’ve recently revamped the NLSC Forum. Specifically, the NBA Live and NBA 2K boards have been split into their own sections again, with the most recent/active boards remaining on the index while the others are available under the Older NBA Live/NBA 2K Games sections. The 25th Anniversary of NBA Live section has been archived under our Featured Content & Community Noticeboard, our Stories section has been moved to the top, and the Other Basketball Games board is now with the other Off-Topic sections.

We hope the changes will make the Forum more organised and easier to navigate. Once again, if you have any suggestions regarding our content and facilities, or are experiencing any technical difficulties, please let me know! As always, we’re by basketball gamers, for basketball gamers, and want to be your source for all basketball video games, past, present, and future. Thank you for your continued support of everything that we do here at the NLSC!

NBA 2K22 Downloads Sections & Forums Opened

NBA 2K22 Downloads Sections & Forums Opened

The preview season is over, and NBA 2K22 has arrived! Over the next few days, many of us will be getting our hands on the new game, whether it’s on PC, a Current Gen console, or a Next Gen console. Since our community will be modding the PC version of NBA 2K22, our Downloads database has been updated with the appropriate sections.

Additionally, I’ve gone ahead and created the Modding and Tutorials & FAQs forums for NBA 2K22. The Modding section is where all mods, previews, and modding questions should be posted. As always, new topics can only be posted in the Tutorials section by NLSC staff members and Contributors. If you’d like to share a tutorial or resource, feel free to post it in the Modding section, and a moderator will move it ASAP. More information can be found in this topic.

I’d like to remind the community that our upload facilities are free and available to everyone with an NLSC Forum account (which is also free!). If you need any help using those facilities, check out this video tutorial which explains how to upload and maintain files. I hope that we can continue to be a productive, helpful, and welcoming modding community. Incidentally, I’ve thrown out a few ideas on how we could improve things in this week’s Friday Five.

Finally, in addition to the new modding forums and Downloads database sections, I’ve added an NBA 2K22 portal here on the main site. Any help maintaining information on the game in our Wiki would also be very much appreciated. Feel free to jump into the conversation about NBA 2K22 in the Forum, and keep that conversation going throughout its life cycle. From modding and sliders to gameplay tips and impressions, we want to produce a lot of content and have spirited discussion about NBA 2K22. I hope you’ll be a part of that, and hopefully, most of us will find enjoyment in 2K’s latest release. Happy 2K Day!

NBA 2K21 Current Gen Out Now; Modding Section Launched

NBA 2K21 Current Gen Released

The Current Gen version of NBA 2K21 is out now! Whether you’ve pre-ordered and pre-loaded, or you’re just picking up the game now, the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions are available to play.

With the release of a new PC game, we’re tipping off a new season of modding. To that end, I’ve launched the Modding section for NBA 2K21 in the Forum, as well as the Tutorials & FAQs board. The Modding section is for previews, releases, requests, and all other modding discussion. Any resources will be moved to Tutorials & FAQs as necessary, though members of the Contributors group may immediately create new topics in that section.

Now that NBA 2K21 Current Gen is out, I’m hoping to see a lot of gaming discussion this year. While we’re obviously a modding community, we’re also enthusiastic basketball gamers, so share your impressions, tips, stories, slider suggestions, and everything else related to playing the game. We’ve always been about more than just modding, but we have seen a decline in those other discussions over the years, so by all means get chatting about the game itself!

We’ll have plenty to say about NBA 2K21 in the NLSC Podcast, as well as our other original content moving forward. Stay tuned for that, as well as all of the great releases that are sure to come from our talented modding community. Happy 2K Day!

NBA 2K20 Modding & Downloads Sections Now Open

NBA 2K20: Serge Ibaka

With 2K Day 2019 almost upon us, I’ve opened up the NBA 2K20 modding and Downloads sections in the NLSC Forum! Obviously there isn’t a lot of content there right now, but given how quickly our community works after a game is released, it shouldn’t be long before we see the first uploads.

If you’re after some quick links, here they are:

I’ve also added a portal for NBA 2K20, and of course, I invite everyone to join in the discussion here! I’m hoping we can get some good topics going this year related to gameplay, slider tweaks, and modes that we’re playing. As I’ve said before, we aim to be your one stop hub for all things basketball gaming!

A quick note about NBA 2K20 modding. While we’re currently still allowing ad links, they are becoming problematic and we may have to amend our policy. As our community gears up to mod this year’s game, I encourage everyone to make use of our hosting facilities, which allow mods to be readily and permanently available. For more information on how to upload files to the NLSC, check out this video tutorial that JaoSming put together a few years ago.

Current Site Issues & Workaround Links

NLSC Forum

We’re currently experiencing a few issues with accessibility around the NLSC. As explained in posts on our Facebook page and Twitter, these issues are the result of installing our SSL certificate. This is something we’ve needed to do for a while to keep up with web standards, and was essential to implement as soon as possible since as of July 2018, Google Chrome will start flagging sites that don’t use SSL as being unsafe.

While the NLSC is basically up and running, we’re still sorting out issues with redirects and subdomains. This means that old links aren’t properly redirecting to HTTPS yet (resulting in some missing images and the like), and forums.nba-live.com currently isn’t operational, meaning it can’t be used to access the Forum or Downloads section.

For the moment, you can use these links to access the Forum and Downloads section:

Browsing the main site, as well as the Wiki, should generally work as normal. As noted, old HTTP links may result in a few missing images until we get everything sorted out.

Thank you for your patience as we troubleshoot these issues. Hopefully everything will be working as normal very soon. Note that the aforementioned links will still work after we get everything back up and running as intended, but the plan is to use the subdomain as before. If you have any questions or encounter any other errors, please let me know.

UPDATE: The regular links are now working again. We’re still cleaning up a few issues with redirects and mixed content warnings, but generally speaking, everything is operational.

NBA 2K18 Modding Forums & Downloads Sections Added

NBA 2K18 Cover

With the imminent release of NBA 2K18, it’s come time to add a few more sections to our Forum and Downloads database.

As we gear up for another season of creating great updates for the latest NBA 2K game, I’ve added a Modding section to the NBA 2K18 forums. That’s the place to post all releases, previews, requests, and any other topics related to modding the game. I’ve also prepared our Tutorials & FAQs section, where we’ll be compiling modding guides and other resources for NBA 2K18. Please note that the NBA 2K17 forums have now been moved to the Older Games section.

I’ve also added a new section to our Downloads database, so that we have a place to upload and list mods for NBA 2K18. This year we’re bringing back the Rosters section, so that modders can link to a release thread containing information about how to get their rosters via the in-game sharing function, as well as links to any required art packs. Hopefully, it won’t be long before we start seeing the first releases for this year’s game!

Since we are on the cusp of a new modding season, I would like to encourage modders to make use of our free upload facilities. I realise there are reasons why you may prefer to host files elsewhere and simply add them to our Downloads section via the external link option, but in the past couple of years, we’ve had to remove a lot of files due to broken links after only a few months. Please consider hosting or mirroring your files on the NLSC, or at least ensuring that your host of choice does not routinely remove uploads.

In addition to all the mods that our community creates, we’ll also be covering NBA 2K18 through our original content, including Monday Tip-Off, The Friday Five, YouTube videos, and of course, the NLSC Podcast. We’ll naturally be doing the same for NBA Live 18, so keep it locked to the NLSC for all your basketball gaming needs!

NBA 2K17 Forum Subsections & Download Sections Added

NBA 2K17: Paul George

We’re in the midst of the Early Tip-Off Weekend for NBA 2K17, and as you can see in the game’s main discussion area in the NLSC Forum, a lot of people already have it. We’ve also been discussing plans and techniques for modding – before the game was even released, in fact – and now that we have our hands on NBA 2K17, I’ve added a new section in our Downloads database for it. As always, we encourage you to make use of our upload facilities!

Please note that I have not created a section for NBA 2K17 roster updates. At this time, the only way to share rosters in the legal version of the game is through the in-game Roster Creator’s sharing functions, so there’s no call for a Rosters section in our Downloads database. Please note that our rules regarding pirated games remain unchanged: no discussing them, no sharing files for them, no requesting download links or any help with them. It’s grounds for a permanent ban, as clearly stated in our Forum Rules. Be advised that we will enforce our rules whether or not you take the time to read them, so we suggest that you give them a look!

If you’re looking for a place to preview and release any mods for NBA 2K17, then the newly created Releases & Previews section is for you. We also have a Tutorials & FAQs section, which we’ll fill with resources as they’re created. As usual, the ability to create new threads in that section is restricted to NLSC staff, to avoid clutter and off-topic posts. If you want to contribute a resource, please post it in the main discussion area, or the Releases & Previews section, and one of us will move it to the Tutorials & FAQs section as soon as possible.

Be sure to join in all of the discussion that’s taking place in the NBA 2K17 section of the Forum! We’re hoping to see everyone sharing their experiences and knowledge this year, as we continue striving to be the definitive resource and destination for basketball gaming. We’re also looking to create some fun and informative original content for NBA 2K17 over the next year, so stay tuned for that, and all the great works from our modding community!

Important Announcement About Our Future; Help Support Us!

NLSC Logo

I have an important announcement about the future of the NLSC. Our current host will be closing their hosting services as of July 7th, so we’ve been making preparations to move to a new home before that happens. I’m pleased to say that we have made the necessary arrangements, and will be moving to a new server in the near future. There will be some downtime while this happens, but everything will be moving across. I’ll try to keep everyone informed as best as possible, via the NLSC Facebook and Twitter accounts.

To keep doing what we’re doing – specifically, providing a Downloads section with upload facilities – the NLSC requires dedicated hosting. Until now, we have received such hosting in exchange for advertising space, which has been a very generous offer to say the least. Unfortunately, there aren’t any deals like that on the table these days, so we are now paying for our own hosting.

Because dedicated hosting is more expensive, and we have been a non-profit website for close to twenty years now, after much thought and consideration, I’ve decided to ask the community for assistance with our hosting costs. At present, we’re looking to raise at least $100 USD per month, which would allow us to cover hosting costs, and put some money towards things like giveaways and content creation.

Let me stress before I go any further: we will not be charging for content! We can’t legally charge for mods (so we certainly won’t be), download and upload facilities will still be free, registration for the Forum will be free, and all our articles and other content will be free. We will not be providing premium content behind a paywall, or making any other sweeping changes. We just need some help paying the bills, because our modding community requires some facilities that we just can’t offer if we’re on cheaper, shared hosting.

Basically, if we can get twenty people donating at least $5 USD per month, we’ll be able to cover our expenses. As I said, should the community’s generosity extend beyond that, I have plans to use those funds for things like monthly giveaways, and new content.

If you’re willing and able to support us, you can do so through Patreon or GoFundMe. I understand the controversy in making an appeal like this, but I do not want to see us go off the air, or lose important features such as our Downloads section and its upload facilities.

On behalf of the NLSC Team, I thank you for your consideration, any contributions you are willing and able to make, and your continued support of everything we do here. Once again, I will try to keep everyone informed about the impending move, which hopefully shouldn’t cause too much of an interruption. I realise that some of you may have some further questions that need concise answers, so please see below for more information. Also, a huge thanks to our current host for all the support, and essentially saving us some eight years ago when we needed to find a new home.
