Once again, contact dunks in Next Gen NBA 2K have produced some immensely satisfying posters in this week’s NLSC Top 10 Plays! Of course, video game dunks have always been exciting, as demonstrated by an alley-oop finish from Reggie Lewis in NBA Live 96, using the work-in-progress roster that we discussed in last week’s NLSC Podcast. The NBA Live 2001 Legends are also up to their usual tricks, while the top two spots belong to a couple of very unique highlights. As always, these great plays from six different games will get you in the mood for a fun weekend of basketball gaming!

What was your favourite highlight this week? Sound off in the comments below, and once again, get in on the fun by sending us your best plays! Remember, as long as it’s a basketball game, it’s eligible for the countdown. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to us on YouTube for more basketball gaming videos.

NLSC THRILLHO Rides Again!

NLSC THRILLHO Rides Again!

As I’ve mentioned in articles and on the NLSC Podcast, traditionally I wasn’t ever a big online or competitive gamer. I mostly played franchise and later career modes, or co-operatively with my cousin. However, after Kenny invited Arcane and I to play 2K Pro-Am in NBA 2K16, I was hooked. This led to the creation of our squad – NLSC THRILLHO – in NBA 2K17.

We had an amazing year, playing over 500 games together. However, disappointment with NBA 2K18 and changes to the format of team Pro-Am in NBA 2K19 combined to put an end to that experience. It hasn’t been until NBA 2K23 that enough of us are playing the latest game and have put the necessary work into our MyPLAYERs to be able to play together online again. We’ve already had a number of sessions of 3v3 Pro-Am, and they’ve produced some fun moments and enjoyable games. I’ve put together a highlight reel from some of our early wins, as NLSC THRILLHO rides again!

Once again, Dee4Three has been spearheading our efforts to create more video content, and I’m looking to get more involved in it as well. To that end, be sure to check out and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more basketball gaming highlights! We’ve also got some other features planned, so stay tuned.

Halloween is almost upon us, so this week’s NLSC Top 10 Plays is getting into the spooky spirit! Of course, if you’ll excuse a corny pun, we get some scarily good highlights from the community each and every week. This spooktacular countdown takes things a step further though, with a reminder of an other-worldly cheat in NBA Live 98. Elsewhere, a number of defenders certainly got a fright of their own when they found themselves looking down the wrong end of a poster dunk. I think you get the picture; check out ten fantastic highlights from six games ranging from NBA Live 98 to NBA 2K23!

NBA Showdown 94 Highlights: Bulls vs Blazers

NBA Showdown 94 Highlights: Bulls vs Blazers

In last week’s NLSC Podcast, Dee4Three and I discussed revisiting NBA Showdown 94, which was EA Sports’ precursor to NBA Live 95. As always, Dee made sure to record our gameplay, and put together another great highlight reel for our YouTube channel!

I’m not as familiar with NBA Showdown 94 and other titles in the NBA Playoffs series (though I do own some of them), since as I mentioned on the podcast, NBA Live 95 was my entry into EA’s basketball games. I do want to spend more time with them though, as it was a lot of fun going head-to-head with Dee in NBA Showdown. As you can see, Clyde Drexler was unstoppable in the paint, while I probably should’ve brought Steve Kerr off the bench earlier! The classics remain a blast to dust off and play today, as I’m sure these highlights will demonstrate.

Another reminder that Dee has been spearheading an initiative to create more video content for the NLSC, from gameplay highlights to the weekly Top 10 Plays. There’s a lot more we’re looking to do with the NLSC YouTube channel including tutorials and more Parsec tournaments, so check it out and please subscribe! We’re also open to suggestions for classic basketball video games to revisit since we both have extensive collections, so please let us know what you’d like to see us play, and hear us discuss on future podcast episodes.

Spoiler alert, this week’s NLSC Top 10 Plays features a truly crazy sequence at the number one spot! It’s always fun when plays like that happen, and we love it when people share those moments with the community. The rest of the countdown provides plenty of excitement too, with spectacular throwbacks to the “Seven Seconds Or Less” Phoenix Suns, and the “We Believe” Golden State Warriors. There’s also an NBA Live 15 Ultimate Team clip from the archives! Five different games in total are represented this week, ranging from NBA 2K6 on Xbox 360 to the Next Gen version of NBA 2K23.

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination Rockets Challenge

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination Rockets Challenge

After conquering the Southeast Division in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination, Dee4Three has moved on to challenge the teams of the Southwest! Once again, he’s uploading highlights from his journey through the mode to the NLSC YouTube channel.

As you can see, Dee has switched his squad’s branding from the Seattle SuperSonics to the Phoenix Suns of the 1980s. Although they’re now wearing different garb, his team featuring the likes of Michael Jordan, Xavier McDaniel, Dee Brown, Jason Williams, Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Terry Cummings, and Shaquille O’Neal, are certainly in familiar form! Dee’s highlights include a bit of everything, from poster dunks and pinpoint passing to sharpshooting from downtown and other great plays. Additionally, all three difficulty levels are represented. Watch the reel below, or catch it here over on YouTube!

If you’ve also been playing MyTEAM Domination in NBA 2K23, share your experiences in the comments below, or join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum! As I noted in previous posts, Dee has been spearheading an increase in video content for us for more than a year now, with efforts that of course include the Top 10 Plays of the Week. Be sure to subscribe to our channel for even more basketball gaming content moving forward!

NBA Live 2003 Rockets vs Suns Parsec Highlights

NBA Live 2003 Rockets vs Suns Parsec Highlights

In addition to our sessions, Dee4Three has been connecting with a number of people from the NLSC Forum and wider basketball gaming community to play games using Parsec. He recently connected with Forum member JuicyShaqMeat for a co-op session of NBA Live 2003 that produced several highlights.

As Dee and I discussed in Episode #447 of the NLSC Podcast, though NBA Live 2003’s arcade-leaning gameplay may not be to the taste of hardcore simheads, it can be an extremely fun game when you enjoy it for what it is. Indeed, these highlights demonstrate the loose, fast-paced fun that can be had with NBA Live 2003. Even underdog teams like the 2003 Rockets and Suns are a blast to play with and against, on top of being a fun trip down memory lane. Catch the reel below, or watch it over on YouTube!

Once again, Dee has been spearheading our efforts to upload more content to our YouTube channel, from highlight reels to the Top 10 Plays of the Week. There’s so much more that we want to do with the channel moving forward, so please give it a look, and subscribe while you’re there! We’d also love to hear your memories of NBA Live 2003, so feel free to share them in the comments below.

Every week, the community comes through with great highlights for the NLSC Top 10 Plays, and the latest countdown is no exception. Elbow passes, crazy lobs, and jaw-dropping poster dunks are on the menu as always, frequently with an entrée of slick moves and canny defensive plays. Six games are represented this week ranging from NBA Live 2003 through to NBA 2K23, and we also have a couple of first time contributors. From exhibition games to MyCAREER to MyLEAGUE with retro rosters, these highlights should tell you just how much fun the community is having with basketball games right now!

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination Southeast Highlights

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination Southeast Highlights

As we’ve been discussing on the NLSC Podcast, Dee4Three has been working his way through Domination in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM. He’s recently completed all of the Southeast challenges, and has put together a highlight reel of his triumphs.

With players like Shaquille O’Neal and Xavier McDaniel on his squad, you can expect a ton of rim-shaking dunks! Unsurprisingly, Michael Jordan, Dee Brown, and Vince Carter also provide plenty of high-flying highlights and crafty moves. Seattle SuperSonics fans will no doubt enjoy seeing that classic branding being put to good use, as Dee pays tribute to a team that a lot of people still miss dearly. Watch the reel below, or catch it over on YouTube!

We’ve been making regular uploads to our YouTube channel over the past year or so, with Dee spearheading that endeavour with highlight reels, Parsec tournaments, and of course, the Top 10 Plays of the Week. We want to do even more video content moving forward, so check out our channel and be sure to subscribe! In the meantime, have you been playing Domination in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM? How far along are you? NBA Live 2003 All-Time Lakers vs Celtics Highlights

NBA Live 2003 All-Time Lakers vs Celtics Highlights

As Dee and I discussed in Episode #447 of the NLSC Podcast, I spent an evening putting together a rough draft of an All-Time Teams roster for NBA Live 2003 PC. We recently connected on Parsec, and tested out that work-in-progress mod in a co-op game.

Although the roster is still in its very early stages, the default assets allowed me to assemble fairly complete versions of the All-Time Lakers and All-Time Celtics. Dee and I opted to control the All-Time Celtics, with both teams wearing the throwbacks that are available in NBA Live 2003. It was a fun, fast-paced game featuring high-flying dunks, NBA Live 2003’s trademark booming swats, and some timely three-pointers. We eked out the win, and the fun we had has certainly encouraged me to keep working on the roster! Check out the highlights below, or catch them over on YouTube.

Once again, moving forward I’ll be making a much better effort to share our video content here on the NLSC, but don’t forget that you can see it first when it’s uploaded to our YouTube channel! Be sure to subscribe as we’re always looking to do more basketball gaming videos, from highlight reels and game retrospectives to various tutorials.

New and old games alike are featured in this celebration of spectacular moments on the virtual hardwood. To submit your clips, post them in this topic, or hit up Dee on Twitter.

The NLSC Top 10 Plays often ends up featuring a motif, with dunking not surprisingly being a particularly popular one. This week’s countdown is getting a little more specific however, as the latest submissions included a variety of one-handed posters. Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Paul George, Andre Iguodala, Dominique Wilkins, LeBron James, Derrick Rose, and Russell Westbrook, are all skying to the rim and embarrassing defenders across a variety of games from NBA Live 2004 through to NBA 2K23. LookyDaGamer also continues to dominate the blacktop, and there’s a celebration that Draymond Green would probably approve of!

NBA Live 2001 Highlights: Double OT With 1996 Mod

NBA Live 2001 Highlights: Double OT With 1996 Mod

Dee4Three has put together a reel of NBA Live 2001 highlights from one of our Parsec sessions a few weeks back. In the game, we were using my 1996 season roster mod, taking on the Milwaukee Bucks with the Chicago Bulls in co-op play.

To be honest, we were expecting an easy victory, even as we cranked up the difficulty for more of a challenge. The CPU had other ideas, though! Vin Baker, Glenn Robinson, Eric Murdock, Todd Day, and an aging Terry Cummings were not intimidated by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Toni Kukoc, jumping out to an early lead. Even after we seized control, the Bucks weren’t about to quit, leading to a double overtime thriller. Of course, my choke job at the end of regulation didn’t help matters. Watch the highlights below, or check them out over on YouTube!

We’ll be talking about NBA Live 2001 in this week’s NLSC Podcast, as Nate and Roger – the NBA Live 2001 Legends – have returned for another guest appearance. Stay tuned for that show, and possibly a couple of further updates to that 1996 season mod! Now that I’ve been able to troubleshoot my controller issues in NBA Live 2001 PC, you’ll probably see some more highlights from the game here and there. As always, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more basketball gaming content! You may also want to check out my NBA Live 2001 retrospective – part of our 25th Anniversary of NBA Live content – and of course, feel free to discuss the early NBA Live games here in our Forum.

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination: Dee4Three vs Heat

NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Domination: Dee4Three vs Heat

As I noted earlier this week, Dee4Three is uploading a ton of gameplay footage to our YouTube channel. This includes his journey through MyTEAM Domination in NBA 2K23, with his latest matchup coming against the Miami Heat.

Dee has already assembled a squad featuring some of his all-time favourite players. In addition to the pre-order Ruby Michael Jordan soaring through the air, you’ll also see Jason Williams tossing lobs, Shaquille O’Neal throwing it down, and Xavier McDaniel bullying Heat players. All three difficulty levels are accounted for in this spectacular highlight reel featuring alley-oops, great defensive plays, effortless three-point bombs, and posterising dunks. Watch it below, or catch it here over on our YouTube channel!

Stay tuned for more videos as Dee’s squad continues to make its way through all of the divisions to conquer the current NBA. In the meantime, have you been playing Domination in NBA 2K23 MyTEAM? If so, how far along are you, and which players are you currently running with? What are your impressions of MyTEAM, and the game in general? Share your thoughts in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion of MyTEAM here in the NBA 2K23 section of the NLSC Forum!

I’ve said it before, but when it comes to basketball highlights – real or virtual – it’s tough not to immediately think of incredible dunks. This week’s NLSC Top 10 Plays is another love letter to basketball’s most ferocious and creative method of scoring, with plenty of posters to enjoy. It’s not all about slams though, as there’s also an impressive buzzer beater courtesy of NBA Live 2005. Once again, NBA 2K23 is heavily featured in the countdown, demonstrating how popular it’s been with the community. Finally, NBA 2K22 and NBA 2K16 are also featured, producing a couple of jaw-dropping moments of their own.

NLSC YouTube Highlights Round-Up

NLSC YouTube Highlights Round-Up

In addition to the Top 10 Plays of the Week and full episodes of our podcast, we also upload other basketball gaming videos to the NLSC YouTube channel! I’ve fallen behind on sharing the uploads here on the NLSC itself, and to that end, I’ll be making a better effort to post bulletins featuring new videos moving forward.

That’s because in addition to curating the weekly Top 10 countdown, Dee4Three has been very prolific in uploading excellent gameplay highlights for a variety of titles, in addition of course to NBA 2K23. This includes his MyTEAM Domination highlights, as he’s currently working his way through the mode. You’ll also find playlists featuring our Parsec tournaments, co-op and competitive sessions, and more.

I’ve also put together a highlight reel from my first session in The Rec in NBA 2K23, in which Valor and I squadded up with a number of random teammates; some better than others! Kenny also joined us for some 3v3 Pro-Am games, and I’ll have a highlight reel from that session uploaded very soon. In short, please subscribe to our channel for some fantastic basketball gaming content, and in case those YouTube notifications don’t work, keep an eye out here for bulletins about our future uploads! For now, you can catch up on the most recent uploads to the NLSC YouTube channel below.
