Three New NBA 2K19 First Look Screenshots; Control Information

NBA 2K19: Anthony Davis First Look

Three more NBA 2K19 First Look screenshots have been released. This time, the featured players are Team 2K members Anthony Davis, Paul George, and Kemba Walker. Davis and George are of course former NBA 2K cover players, appearing on the covers of NBA 2K16 and NBA 2K17 respectively.

As is the case with the other First Look screenshots so far, their initial Overall Ratings in NBA 2K19 have been revealed. Anthony Davis will be rated 94 Overall, as he was in the final official roster for NBA 2K18, while Paul George’s Overall has increased from 88 to 89. Kemba Walker has also increased from an 85 to 86 Overall.

While we’re still waiting for the usual preview season fare such as a full gameplay trailer, developer insights, and so forth, an interesting discovery was made over at Operation Sports. It seems the controls for NBA 2K19 have already been published on Xbox Live’s online help site, providing us with an overview of what to expect on the sticks. They are mostly similar to NBA 2K18, however there are some new stealing and shot contest controls.

Check out the screenshots below, as well as in our gallery. Feel free to add your thoughts in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion in the NBA 2K19 section of the NLSC Forum.

NBA 2K17 Trailer: Friction

NBA 2K17: Kyrie Irving

2K has finally released the first extended gameplay trailer for NBA 2K17, titled “Friction”. As is traditional, it spotlights several noteworthy players from cinematic angles, and includes both highlight plays and celebration animations.

The trailer features cover athlete Paul George, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook going head to head, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo on the Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose on the New York Knicks, a glimpse of Kobe Bryant wearing number eight, Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, rookie Ben Simmons, and Chris Paul, among several others.

Interestingly, around the 1:20 mark, someone is shown performing a trampoline dunk during a timeout. This would seem to suggest that there will be more enhancements to arena atmosphere in NBA 2K17. The trailer is strictly spotlighting NBA teams and players, so no FIBA or Euroleague teams are featured. Both have been confirmed for the game however, along with retro teams.

Check out the Friction trailer below, or watch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. What are your thoughts? Will you be pre-ordering NBA 2K17 for Early Tip-Off Weekend, or picking it up on the street date (September 20th)? Or, are you still waiting for more information and raw gameplay? NBA 2K17 Screenshot: Kyrie Irving

NBA 2K17: Kyrie Irving

Today’s NBA 2K17 screenshot has been posted over on the official NBA 2K Instagram account, and it features Kyrie Irving. So far, it looks as though my prediction may be accurate, as Irving is another member of Team 2K. If my prediction is correct, the next few screenshots will likely feature Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Andre Drummond, Jimmy Butler, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

You can check out the screenshot of Irving below, as well as in our NBA 2K17 gallery. Higher resolution screenshots of Kyrie Irving and Paul George have also been made available, so be sure to check them out as well.

Another interesting tidbit that’s come through today is 2K’s announcement that NBA 2K17 will be at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

This likely means that we’ll be seeing some over-the-shoulder footage popping up on YouTube. Of course, there’s only so much we can glean from such footage, and there’s always a chance it will be pulled after being flagged by Visual Concepts. Nevertheless, gameplay footage (of a kind) and impressions are likely on the way this week.

Any thoughts on the latest screenshots? Feel free to share them in the comments section below, as well as in this thread in the NLSC Forum.

NBA 2K17 Screenshot: Paul George

NBA 2K17: Paul George

2K have begun releasing screenshots for NBA 2K17 via their official Instagram account, beginning with cover player Paul George. According to this Tweet, new screenshots will be released every day this week at noon, Pacific Time.

This isn’t our first glimpse of Paul George in NBA 2K17, as he appeared in both the leaked and officially released screenshots of Team USA 2016. If I had to hazard a guess, I would suggest that the upcoming screenshots will feature the other members of Team 2K: Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Andre Drummond, Jimmy Butler, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

You can check out the screenshot of Paul George below, as well as here in our NBA 2K17 screenshots gallery. Got any thoughts on the new screenshot? Paul George Announced as NBA 2K17 Cover Player

NBA 2K17 Cover Art

As previously advertised, 2K Sports has officially revealed the cover player for NBA 2K17, coinciding with the grand finale of the Road To The Finals tournament in NBA 2K16 Pro-Am. As it turns out, Indiana Pacers’ All-Star Paul George will grace the cover of this year’s game from 2K, after serving as the cover player for the MyNBA2K16 app. It looks like we have our hashtag for the year, too: #THISISNOTAGAME

George also appeared in the reveal trailer for the Legend Edition of NBA 2K17 featuring Kobe Bryant on the cover, which led many gamers to speculate that he would be announced as the main cover player. Now that the cover has been revealed, the speculation continues as one of the background images of George features him wearing a Team USA jersey, perhaps suggesting that FIBA teams or even the Olympic tournament will be featured in this year’s games.

You can check out the full size image of the cover below. Any thoughts on the NBA 2K17 cover announcement? Do you think we’ll be getting FIBA teams in this year’s game? Feel free to sound off in the comments section below, as well as join in the discussion in this thread in the NLSC Forum. The preview season is almost upon us, and we’ll naturally be covering all of the developments, so stay tuned for more details in the near future!
