NBA 2K23 on PlayStation Plus This Month

NBA 2K23 on PlayStation Plus This Month

The PlayStation Plus monthly games for June 2023 have been officially announced, and NBA 2K23 is among them. From Tuesday June 6th until Monday July 3rd, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to add NBA 2K23 to their library at no extra charge. As with all other PlayStation Plus games, it will remain playable as long you have an active subscription.

According to the announcement, both the PS4 and PS5 versions of NBA 2K23 will be available. Obviously it’s quite late in the year to be getting into the game, and our community also tends to be more interested in the PC version anyway. However, if you do have a PS4 and/or PS5 and don’t yet own the game on those platforms, it’s a good opportunity to pick it up at no additional cost; as long as you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, of course.

A reminder that NBA 2K games are removed from digital storefronts when online support ends. While that won’t be happening with NBA 2K23 until the end of next year, if you’re a collector and completionist, once again it’s a good opportunity to add it your library without spending an extra cent. If you’re looking for some impressions of NBA 2K23, Dee and I shared our “definitive” take on the game in Episode #455 of the NLSC Podcast.

NBA 2K20 Free on PlayStation Plus, Discounted on Steam

NBA 2K20 is free on PlayStation Plus in July

As announced at the end of June, the PlayStation 4 version of NBA 2K20 is currently free for all PlayStation Plus subscribers. The offer is available through to August 3rd, so if you haven’t picked up this year’s game and want to check it out on PS4, now’s your chance to get it.

While there’s no legal way to get NBA 2K20 for free on PC – and please note that we don’t support the pirated version in our community – the game is also currently discounted on Steam. The Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Legend Editions of NBA 2K20 PC are all on sale at 85% off. Once again, if you don’t have the game and want to check it out before NBA 2K21 comes out, it’s a good opportunity to do so.

If you do pick up the PC version, don’t forget to check out the many mods in our Downloads database! You can also keep tabs on all the releases and work-in-progress mods in the NBA 2K20 Modding section of the Forum. I also invite you to go back and tune into Episode #313 of the NLSC Podcast, where Derek and I discuss our further impressions of the game, six months after its release.

NBA 2K16 PlayStation Plus Reminder

Kevin Durant takes on the Warriors in NBA 2K16

A quick reminder to any and all PlayStation 4 users with an active PlayStation Plus subscription: NBA 2K16 is still available for your Instant Games Collection. If you haven’t picked up the game yet, or you’ve been playing on PC and would like to double-dip, this is an excellent opportunity to get it at no extra cost.

It will only be available until July 5th however, so act fast if you want to add the game to your collection. Note that you don’t need to download NBA 2K16 right away; it weighs in at around 50 GB, so if your hard drive is full, or you’re having connection problems, simply add it to your collection so that you can download it later. It will remain accessible as long as you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. More details can be found here in the PlayStation Store.

If you do take advantage of the offer and pick up NBA 2K16 for PlayStation 4, be sure to join us in discussing the game here in the NLSC Forum! Please be advised, however, that the mods in our Downloads section are not compatible with the PS4 version. Several users have made all sorts of custom rosters that are available through 2K Share, including offseason rosters, so be sure to check them out.

NBA 2K16 Available Through PlayStation Plus in June

Stephen Curry shoots the basketball in NBA 2K16

If you have a PlayStation 4 and have been holding out on picking up NBA 2K16, or you’ve been playing the PC version and would just like to double-dip on PS4, now’s your chance. PlayStation Plus subscribers will soon be able to pick up the game at no extra cost, as it will be available in June’s Instant Game Collection lineup.

Note that NBA 2K16 is a 40+ GB download, so make sure that you have sufficient hard drive space, and if you’re on a capped Internet plan, enough data. As with all games that are made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers, you can also choose to simply add the game to your collection, and download it at a later time. It will remain in your collection and available to play, as long as you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

If you do decide to pick up NBA 2K16 through this offer, feel free to share your impressions and experiences here in the NLSC Forum. Please note that the PS4 version does not support any external modding, though there are quite a few custom rosters available through 2K Share. If you’d like to play with the special roster in which Stephen Curry is rated 99 Overall, I’ve shared it under the names “Curry 99 – Official” (the main official roster) and “Curry 99 – Injury-Free” (an injury-free version). If you’re on PC and missed out on that roster, I’ve shared it there as well.
