Long before Leftos joined the NBA 2K development team, he was creating fantastic modding tools for our community. He made a point of making those utilities open source, so that other programmers could potentially update them in his stead. To that end, the NBA 2K Audio Editor that Leftos and Nesa24 originally created all those years ago has been updated by Eddie 2K.

In addition to fixing a few bugs and improving compatibility with longer files, Eddie 2K’s update to the NBA 2K Audio Editor includes a light and dark mode. There’s also a function to download and convert music from YouTube. You can pick up the new version of the tool here!

In addition to providing several spectacular highlights for the NLSC Top 10 Plays, Nba2kfadeaway has been doing some excellent work with both creating mods and whipping up some modding utilities. His latest release is a tool that allows you to edit jersey colours and types in NBA 2K16.

Editing accessory colours is as easy is selecting from a series of colour boxes, while a dropdown menu allows you to select different collars and shorts. Please note that the tool reads memory live, so it must be run after you’ve fired up NBA 2K16, and restarted whenever you restart the game. Once you’ve made the desired changes, you’ll need to save the roster you’re working on in-game.

Nba2kfadeaway is currently still looking to map a few as yet unknown colours, so if you can provide any insight while testing out the tool, please let him know. One of the biggest challenges with NBA 2K modding since NBA 2K15 has been keeping tools and mods themselves working with games as they’re updated. The latest patch for NBA 2K26 has caused some issues with getting modded IFF files to work, as the game is now stricter about file structures, specifically certain compression formats. To that end, Looyh has created a tool that will get those custom files working once again.

In addition to allowing everyone to use mods as normal, the tool is also useful for modders who want to ensure that their future releases will work in the wake of Patch 1.4. As Looyh notes, it’s unclear if this is just a temporary situation caused by the latest update, as the change appears to have been made for better efficiency when loading files. In any case, we now have the Fixer tool to get modded IFF files working again in NBA 2K26.

You can pick it up here in our Downloads database! A big thanks as always to Looyh for all the work he does for NBA 2K modding. In case you missed it, Looyh’s File Explorer tool for NBA 2K26 was also released a couple of weeks ago, and can be downloaded here.

In excellent news for NBA 2K26 modding, Looyh has released a File Explorer for this year’s game! For those who are unfamiliar with the tool, it allows modders to browse and export assets from NBA 2K’s archives. NBA 2K25 has presented a few challenges to the modding community, but so far, it hasn’t stopped us from tinkering with the game! That’s thanks to the efforts of people like Looyh and the talented modders who have been readily sharing advice and resources in the Forum, but there’s also another NBA 2K25 tool that I’ve neglected to mention, namely Sync2K.

Created by doublesync, Sync2K is a mod suite that’s been developed to aid with roster editing and simulation league management. This includes the ability to quickly modify player attributes in real time, as well as apply changes to rosters being used by sim leagues. V1.1.1 of Sync2K has recently been released, providing support for the latest patch for NBA 2K25.

One of our goals when it comes to offering free file hosting to the community is the preservation of mods and modding tools. To that end, it’s always satisfying when we can track down a lost file or utility, and ensure that it’s readily available once again. While fixing some broken links some months back, I noted that I was unable to find V1.2 of Looyh’s File Export Console for NBA 2K21.
