NBA 2K20 Ultimate Retro Roster Updates (Thunder Shaq)

NBA 2K20 Ultimate Retro Roster Updates (Thunder Shaq)

I’m a tad late in posting a bulletin about this, but if you’ve been keeping up with the NBA 2K20 Modding section in our Forum, you’ll have seen that Thunder Shaq released a new version of the Ultimate Retro Roster in July. It’s a substantial update that’s exciting whether you want to play with current rosters, or the NBA of yesteryear.

The latest version of the Ultimate Retro Roster for NBA 2K20 features updated end-of-season rosters for 2026, including adjustments to ratings, contracts, faces, and more. There’s also a work-in-progress 2027 season roster, featuring offseason transactions through July 10th 2026. It also includes first round draftees (with more cyberfaces to come), updated contracts, new court, logo, and jerseys for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Houston Rockets’ new logo.

Updates have also been made to the 2021 and 2022 season rosters. Check out this post for the download links, as well as a complete changelog. Please note that you’ll need to have installed the previous updates for the rosters to work properly. If you’ve already installed Update Pack 4 (March 14h, 2026), you only need to download the latest update. If in doubt, check out this post for the download links for the entire project.

Shout out to Thunder Shaq and all of the contributors to the Ultimate Retro Roster for NBA 2K20! As always, it’s great to see a game that people still enjoy being kept alive through free mods. If you’re still playing NBA 2K20, definitely give it a look!

NBA 2K20 2026 Rosters by Thunder Shaq

Much as PatTheHead has been doing for NBA 2K13, Thunder Shaq has been keeping NBA 2K20 up to date while also celebrating NBA history. To that end, the latest version of his Ultimate Retro Roster for NBA 2K20 features 2026 season rosters, and other enhancements throughout the retro season mods.

The 2026 rosters are accurate as of October 31st 2025. Class of 2025 rookies are included with core players all having faces, and the branding for the Orlando Magic and Utah Jazz has been updated. At this time, many of the two-way players aren’t included unless they were already in the roster, and contracts are not accurate. To that end, Thunder Shaq has advised that the roster in its current state is mostly intended for Play Now and Season mode.

In addition to bringing 2026 season rosters to NBA 2K26, the latest update to the Ultimate Retro Roster includes an enhanced version of the 2025 season mod, several updates to the 2019 roster, and new faces, jerseys, and courts. The full release notes can be found here.

You can find all of the download links for the Ultimate Retro Roster here in the Forum! If you’ve already downloaded the previous release and just need the current season rosters, just download Update Pack 3 here. Shout out to Thunder Shaq and all of the other contributors to the Ultimate Retro Roster for bringing 2026 season rosters to NBA 2K20, along with a host of retro season mods!

NBA 2K20 Ultimate Retro Roster All-Star Update

NBA 2K20 Ultimate Retro Roster All-Star Update

In addition to dabbling with a minimalist 2007 season roster mod for NBA 2K10, Thunder Shaq has continued to work on his Ultimate Retro Roster for NBA 2K20 PC. On top of providing complete retro season roster mods going way back to the 1984 campaign, the project includes updated 2025 season rosters.

Some of the key features of the latest release include rosters updated as of February 24th 2025, 84 new portraits, face updates for current and retro players alike, fixes for various jerseys, and further updates to player ratings, tendencies, and Badges.

Download the project here in the Forum! You can also find more information about the new release in this post, as well as download links for the essential update files if you’ve installed a previous version of the mod.

Shout out once again to Thunder Shaq for all of his hard work keeping a game that he’s passionate about alive and up to date! As I’ve said before, I’m all for reviving the retro modding scene – retro being a relative term when it comes to annual basketball video games – and continuing to work on the games that you want to mod. If you’re still playing NBA 2K20 PC, definitely give the Ultimate Retro Roster a look!
